Unlike those who copied me, mine comes with a stainless clamp at no charge.
Why? Because you need it.
Want one?
Did Dave teach about the Fireman's Rule?

Look at DP1's order to me...  6 swivel sets. That's it.

Damnit DP, that's why I told you to call Joe, rather than email your order! Mad Very Happy

Because you need things like the starter cuff, and maybe other things I'm not remembering.

Trust me, call him, he's not going to blow smoke up ur ass and sell you shoot you don't need!  He will just let you know what you're going to need to make it work/do it right.

Hopefully you ordered the filter conversion?
Lol, yes I did order the filter conversion kit Razz
I'm calling him tomorrow to finalize the order Very Happy

Hey guys I don't really like the direction that this thread has taken. I started the original post to discuss the ICE Show not to turn into a Mytee bashing party.

I edited Mikes and Joe's comments that I thought could be slanderous to Mytee and you guys need to cool it. John I apologize for the cool reception you initially got here but the fact is cleaners here do like some of your products and of course weather you continue to contribute to this board is completely up to you.

I'm just a cleaner and I don't have the funds or energy to be fighting a lawsuit. I think I might have gotten over my head with this whole board thing.

PS. If anybody has a problem with this PM or call me.

Thanks Mo. But you don't have to apologize for others. Moderating a board is very difficult. Character assassination is nothing new though most left it behind in junior high school. I'll pass on the drama. If there is a thread I can comment on in a positive way I'll be sure to speak up. I'll just ignore the rest. You are still invited to ICE, bring your video camera and your interview questions so you can post a review for those who couldn't come and at least see a little of the valuable show they missed. No hard feelings on this end.

One of the things I learned through all this is that Section 230 of the Decency Communications Act provides Administrators of forums immunity from liability of slanderous and defamatory comments made on their forums. My main concern was that I would also be liable for slanderous comments made on this forum

Just to clarify I edited Joes and Mikeys post and then I called Joe to let him know that I did it. Wanders Products is our most valued sponsor at The Cleaners Lounge and I consider Joe my friend but Joe does not run this board and he knows that he will not be the only distributor to participate on this forum

I was hoping that members and distributors would treat each other with civility and respect but what the hell was I thinking this is internet.

Ok, my turn to chime in.... Just not close enough to or interested enough in the politics, but I'm glad everyone got it out of there system. Back on the original topic of Going to ICE, here's my opinion.

Sounds like all these expos are just ordinary trade shows, a good place for vendors to meet and try to sell to customers (us) in one place. I have been on both sides of that coin in several industries and if done right everyone comes out happy at the end.

However, given the goals and dimensions of this site and its members and what I think it stands for and what we are trying to accomplish, we really don't need to attend this type of expo to spend more money on what vendors want us to spend it on [not putting it down or saying not to go]. Suppliers/vendors please don't take offense to this. I like most will continue to purchase what I need when I need it from whomever can serve me the best.

So here's what I propose study  . As a group of professionals I think it would be awesome to get together once a year at a conference (not an expo) to meet face to face and share ideas. No registration fees, no entries, no booths, and no sales. Just a friendly gathering of interested professionals who want to "Connect, Learn, and Prosper" in person.

I envision workshops (ie. learn to weld your own plastic tank, learn to make your own RX skids/glides, learn to build your own truck mount, etc), hands on training sessions for add on services (ie. how to clean fireplace bricks, how to do sandless wood floor refinishing, how to clean lamp shades, etc), seminars (ie. how to grow your business, how to retain employees, how to survive a bad economy, etc), and a place to relax for a long weekend and get to know your pares (sp?) over golf, pool side, bar side etc.

I am confident that this could be done without a lot of glitter at a very low total cost to each participant with service trade-outs for hotels, food, entertainment, etc in the host city. If anyone is remotely interested and would like to explore this more, I would be happy to try to get the ball rolling. coctail

I like the convention idea, Joe, but I will add that I wish they were local conventions. Getting together on a national basis is pretty cool, but what works in the sticks will fail in the big city and vice versa. If there were regional conventions where the people participating were all in the same market, then you would have something special.

The only problem is that it would be a lot like these forums, givers sharing and takers hanging out near the coat rack going through your pockets for a buck. Maybe that is being too negative about the industry, but it seems to be that way more often than not.

Am I going to ICE? I was always planning on it, but lately it has started to lose some luster. If the weather is bad enough, I might still go, but I haven't been able to convince myself right now.

Tell me about it DP. the kind of crap I worry about. I'm not a lawyer but I do play one on TV and it's section 230.

But I do know that you agree we should treat each other with respect.

I'm kind of leaning towards going maybe just to get it out of my system. It'll bring back memories of my first marriage at the candle light chapel:D

That's a good idea Joe. Like T says it would have to be at a location that is semi close to an airport. The location would have to be large enough to host the event. Maybe the hosting location could schedule a cleaning at a hotel etc. We could barter cleaning for free or discounted room rates, barbecue, coctail  let's do it.

I seems like we have  a lot of west coast members on the forum but Cali wouldn't really be centrally located. I say Prescott AZ.  I clean the motor lodge here in town with retro rooms we could lodge there, clean it and hit Whiskey row in the evening. Sapphire Scientefic is here in town maybe we can arrange a tour of the facility. Eric  The Mechanic has some contacts there.

I'm not Fat or nerdy. I happen to think I'm just the person my clients want working in their home. Friendly, knowledgable individual, that shows concern and care for their flooring.

I have some opening next week if you guys need to get to that cleaning you've put off for the last three months. wink

You just described Mikey's Fest to a T. Real cleaners sharing all day long with other real cleaners. This coming fest will out do last years which by all accounts was awesome.

You know where to go for more info on a "gathering" far more beneficial than these mega trade shows.
Is Rob Allen going to be a regular poster at The Cleaners Lounge too? Very Happy  This is going to be the only place on the net were you could see Mike, John, Joe, and T at the same place at the same time.  Here's some juice Mike

Just an idea. Guess I'll just make an open invite for anyone ever passing through or by Rehoboth Beach, DE. We have a pool in the back yard, alcohol always flowing, a 100lb gas tank on the grill and can always make some room on the couch. And yes, I am 6'1", 260lbs and as nerdy about my cleaning business as the rest of you.

Mo - the cold weather is starting to set in out this way. Maybe you can hook me up at that hotel for a couple of months Laughing  .

Mikey - I have only heard "Mikey Fest" referenced here a couple of times. Didn't know it really existed Shocked  .

I'm no expert by any means in carpet cleaning. I started in 1994 cleaning all the local Wendy's with a prochem. I've dabbled here and there with it ever since.

One thing that kinda turned me off was the large number of low lifes in this industry. Some make by-here-pay-here car salesman look classy. I don't know much of anybody in this industry.

But, having dealt with Joe Bristor a few times, the guy is a class act. He's helped me more than anybody else, and it ain't cause of money cause I'm just a tiny guy at the moment. But it means a lot to me. People who are good for their word these days are harder to find than bigfoot. We're a dying breed.

ICE is growing and getting bigger and better each day. Over 300 now are registered to attend and there are over 50 exhibitors. Not bad for the first year. Many Industry experts will be speaking and conducting free informative classes/discussions. Roto Vac just signed up to exhibit as well as CFI. At the end of the first day (4:00-5:00 pm), there will be a Beatle Tribute Band playing your favorite Beatle tunes. You guys should try to come and walk it. You'll enjoy it.
