Hello, my name is Devon and Ive cleaned for over 22 years with about 10 in Southern California and 12 in Southern Oklahoma. I had a great company here and sold it off about 8 years ago(regret it).....he is long gone now. Im looking to fire it back up as my son is getting old enough to work with me and I never really lost the desire to clean (not sure why I like it) anyway....Im here and wanting to stay tuned with whats going on in the cleaning world. So much has changed in the little time Ive been gone. Glides? crazy expensive wands? chemicals? sheesh! what happend? Sleep

Welcome back, Devon!

Yes, EVERYTHING has changed in the last 6-8 yrs in this industry, I'd say. Chems are way better/safer now, equipment is much different and better, and customers needs are different now.

Welcome back to the madness....I did the same thing, cleaned since '87 off / on with about an 8 year hiatus before coming back some 7 years ago.

Everything did change...including me. I used to be a very fast cleaner who turned it into more of a circuit course rather than a job. Got older, got slower, and enjoy it a hell of a lot more.

The good part is that us old guys have the benefit of "gray hair presence" in that the customer assumes that we have been doing this since we were 18. They trust us sooner and believe nearly everything we say, so you have that working for you.

You will like the new chemistry, the new tools, and hopefully this forum.

Grey hair presence laughing you know...I feel good but question my getting back into this. I feel like I need to teach my son to work with people and the service industry. Something to fall back on.

I think teaching your kid this industry is a great idea....the interactive skills that he will learn will help him with any career. Even if this venture is short-lived, the experience would be priceless....for both of you.

Milspec...thats 95% of why Im doing this. Most kids these days are stuck on a computer or cell phone and have no skills to enter a workforce. My wife has been through 4 guys at her work that are fresh out of High School and do not have people skills or even know how to count change.

ACpower1...I have some secretes I could share Twisted Evil Im headed to bed for now but will no doubt trade stories with you guys.

Welcome Devon. My son worked with me last summer and saved enough to buy his first car. I was so proud of him. He learned how work, interact with customers and save, Abour ten months later he totaled the car but thats another story Very Happy
