Wheeeeew it's Hot.
I'm sure it's not as hot as some of you guys are experiencing, but it's real hot and even worse humid for here.........it's the humidity we normally don't have to deal with here, that makes it worse.
Tell us what it's like where you are, so we feel better here.

Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
115 heat index on Friday, but storms blew through last night so today was in the low 80's.....but humid.
There is no way around it, cleaning in that kind of heat is not healthy for man nor machine.

115? Yup OK thanks, that gives us some relief here to us pussy's. It's not near that bad here, but I'm just not use to it, living here my whole life.

Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
It's not the heat it's the humidity. LOL It's been in the low nineties here for weeks. On days when the trades don't blow or a low pressure system blows North of us, it's super sticky. I change shirts after every job.

I remember those days Rainbow.
Do you wear the silks for a uniform? The dry cleaning bill might get expensive, but I sure appreciated those shirts down there.

Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
Silk? Haven't tried that. I think they make washable silk. I use synthetic's that wick moisture. Unfortunately they tend to stink after a while. Nothing seems to wash it out of some of the shirts. Maybe I should try H2O2. I pour it on my watch band (SS mesh) and it foams like crazy. LOL

Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
All of those synthetics are just polyester fabric and yes, they all end up stinking which is why I avoid them.
At your humidity, you would be changing a cotton shirt all day long! Silk, on the other hand, wicks better than the poly, dries fast, and never seem to take on any odors.
Sure, they can wrinkle and they are more difficult to clean, but a nice collard silk shirt would be my choice and was my choice when I was stationed down there.

You don't see a lot of oil drilling platforms on the northern beaches like you do on the south beaches like Huntington but there sure is. Lot of seaweed.Â

You're in the wrong 'hood for the ghetto $59.95 Motel-Patel, Mo.

Seeing those ocean views after spending 2 hours battling weeds and mosquitoes in the heat compels me to say one thing:
Mo, you have a real mean streak to you.
Looks like a good time, enjoy it.

I drive by Knotts and D-land once in awhile while working, and see 'others working' a lot of times.

Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
Milspec,
I don't envy you a summer in Nebraska. The last time the wife and I were through there was on a Harley. We were near the end of a 7000 mile, one month cross country trip. I was a hundred and five degrees. My wife is a local girl who can't take the heat or cold. It was so hot she was stripped down to just a thong. We pulled into a Dairy Queen in a podunk town in extreme Southern Neb. She jumped off the back of the bike and proceeded to cool off using the hose on the side of the building. She had the hose on top of her head with water streaming down her body when I noticed a screened in patio off to the side. Several guys were sitting inside eating. They got a real eye full that's for sure. She was delirious from the heat and didn't care. LOL

Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
They probably still tell that same story in town
It is an odd state for weather. We can get as hot and humid as any place in the US and still get just as cold in the winter.
The real problem is that you don't get the ability to go down to the shore or up to mountains. All you can do here is go to the next corn field or maybe find a lake somewhere with flesh eating disease at every turn.
The only good thing is that we never have to worry about a tourist season clogging up our towns.

Since you don't like to vacation I thought I would bring the vacation to you. I thought you had a vacation planned?milspec6 wrote:Seeing those ocean views after spending 2 hours battling weeds and mosquitoes in the heat compels me to say one thing:

If it's any consolation the vacation is over driving back home today and picking up my lg and hx on the way. Yes!!!!
Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
No vacation slots available at work until late September. I am actually looking to take a carpet repair course during that time.
That is the problem with vacations for me, I am either running a race or attending training. Not exactly a great vacation.
The first and only vacation that I have set up will be in Feb., where I will be spending a week in Hawaii at a rented house. No training, no racing, no working. Just plan on clearing off an item on my bucket list by sitting on the beach and playing Buffett's Margaritaville on the 6-string.

Re: Wheeeeew it's Hot.
Mo, She was delirious from the heat or it might have been riding down wind of one pig farm after another.
Reminds me of another bike trip across the same area of Nebraska a couple of years earlier. I was riding down a desolate highway around midnight and came to a T intersection. The only thing open was a bar. I was spent after riding all day and into the night and didn't relish the idea of heading out into the darkness again. I spotted a building with several junked cars parked down one side. I backed the bike into the shadows between a couple of jalopies and settled down to catch a few Z's. I was laying there in full leathers, helmet, boots and all when I heard gravel crunching and low voices. A couple of guys from the beer joint were cutting through the lot. Fortunately they didn't notice me. I was just about to drop off when I heard them coming back. This time I heard "Wow! Take a look at that"! Referring to my new custom Soft Tail. With as low and menacing a voice as I could muster I said "Yeah and the owners here with it" They nearly jumped out of their skins and took off running. I knew I'd been made so I saddled up and took off. It's a good thing as a pick up full of good old boys from the beer joint took off after me. I was doing well over a hundred down the dark highway before they finally gave up. Oh the memories of Nebraska!
