Nothing to do in Vegas
It must be a sign of getting old, but I just ran through a list of over 80 things that you can do in Vegas....shows and excursions any way. I read through all of them and nothing struck me as a winner.
You can do so many things (weapon shoots, race cars, sand buggies, zip lines, helicopter tours, bike tours, hiking, etc.) and yet they don't appeal to me any more. Fifteen years ago, yes, but not any more. Maybe we could head to to the track and race some go-carts or something, but everything else just didn't fire me up.
Sure, many probably would love to go to the range and shoot fully automatic machine guns, but I spent a year on a gun crew carrying around a 50 cal machine gun and the M60. I had my fill and not interested in re-living those days.
Zip lines, sky-diving, racing, dune buggies......been there and done that already.
I hate to say it, but I am old and don't plan on doing a whole lot in Vegas. A little bit of gambling, maybe see an exhibit, walk the strip to people watch, and attend the expo is probably about it.
For those going, anybody have any other ideas?? Oh, and no, I don't want to learn how to pole dance, so forget that one as well. I'm sure someone was about to suggest it.

LOL, you know I was going to suggest that
Have you seen the light show in old downtown Vegas ?
I would take you to Venetian and ride the gondola but since you're not pretty I respectfully refuse
Hmmm what else, oh have you seen the hooverdam ? It is about 2 hours drive though.
I know a go cart place in Vegas if you want to do that.
Oh the zip line thing, you can actually do that during the light show which I think is pretty cool.
I'm sure there are a few more options I can't think about now.
Oh if you haven't tried shake shack, we should try that, they have the best burgers. They just opened a few months ago.

Re: Nothing to do in Vegas
We did the zip line and that super tall ferris wheel the last time I was in town and once was enough for me. Love the Dam, but did that already as well. The karts might be fun for a short excursion if there is a few of us going.
As for burgers, there is a 5-guys out there as well near the New York Casino that we destroyed the last time. My stomach doesn't handle a whole lot any more, but I may brave it anyway.

Re: Nothing to do in Vegas
Hover Dam tour is a must see, especially if you have a creative/engineering mind like I do.
I've been there several times and can't get enough, it's truly amazing, I think.
I only remember it being a 45-60 min drive from the strip, but that was back in '99, a lot has changed since then. lol

Re: Nothing to do in Vegas
I bungeed once in my life off a bridge. It cost me $200, I broke blood vessals in both eyes and walked around looking like I fought Mike Tyson for the next 4 days. I think I will pass.
I would love to go for a bike ride or hiking, but that is an all-day venture and I haven't the time on this trip. I really do have some business to take care of at the Expo.
I never did make the Area 51 trip before, but it would have to be at night to be any good. I don't see having the time for that either.
It is just shaping up to be more pedestrian than a scene from the "Hangover". Who knows, anything might happen.

Great, good to see the scouting party is on the ground!
The Blue Man Group is a great show, but bring ear plugs as they do get very loud. Seriously, they get very loud and if you have "good" seats, you will thank me later.

Ask someone about the big shot if it is still there, it's on the top of the tallest building. Be fun to watch if nothing else.

Re: Nothing to do in Vegas
Stayed at my daughters with grandson. Went shootin; saw,mp4. My 13 yo son was the best; m4 cluster shot around belly button on target. Did blueman last night; that TP is not reusable - that's all I can say.
I wanted to drive the lambo around the track.
My close reek of a raunchy, purfumy bathroom (the casino smell).
And I'm not in any way a bunny ranch.... I know, Mo...jk.
Dp, flying out right now.
And not one chance to do slots. I usually make afew 100 on the pennies.

Re: Nothing to do in Vegas
It was the scar, not the saw. The shock wave was unbelievable. My mother in law had to leave the indoor range.
Did my M4 on full auto- short burst. ! We want one!
Drove thru the north side of the strip, to get to the Luxor. Had to keep telling my 13 yo to play with the baby, to get his eyes away from the scenery. You know what I mean.

Re: Nothing to do in Vegas
Sounds like you had a good time, Matt.
I agree about the scenery, just in my hotel alone it could trigger a heart condition. My room was normally a very expensive room and the halls were full of hookers that you had to push past to reach the elevator some nights.
The hotel food wasn't very good, but the showers were sure cold.
