Wishing Well Backfire Empty Wishing Well Backfire

Post by milspec6 Tue Mar 15, 2016 10:33 am

Things were really slow this year in Jan / Feb and I was a little worried about it. Then the weather improved and the calls started to flow a little in early March. I remember tossing a dime into a pond about a week ago chuckling that maybe a wish would help.

In addition to all the overtime at my job, I was scheduled for 3 buildings (42,000 sqft total). I did one last night, one is tonight and the other tomorrow night. Then I return to work for a 52 hour stretch Thurs - Sunday. I was thinking about maybe that wishing well wasn't such a bad idea.

I just got called two minutes ago and now I have 3 more buildings to clean ASAP totaling over 32,00 sqft that is scheduled for after work Sunday night through Tuesday night.

That wishing well was great, but it had poor timing. I'm growing old just thinking about this stretch of work!

damn Rob nice! I really want to get into more commercial work. Im going to try and do a demo at a local bar, they have really nice casino carpet and its super dirty. The lady owns 4 bars that are all decent sized and has them cleaned 1x/year but it never looks at all clean.. I could blow them away with a little grease eraser or flex

I will be keeping the location of this well a secret!

You're right Mo, I had plenty of rest this winter. I just hope I am still in fighting shape, this is a lot of work over 7 days. I will either be smiles at the bank at the end or taking visitors at the hospital. Shocked

Subs and helpers really. I have 2 subs that I can bring in as needed to chop up the job. It makes it possible, but it also costs me a big chunk of the gross. I have been running without helpers lately which makes things a little tougher when it comes to loading out and dealing with 450 feet of hoses.

Just got home from the second one....a little bit up on this one. I have a root canal in a few hours and then back for the third building. I'm not sure which one will cause more misery actually....maybe one will cancel the other one out. Razz

As for going Full-time? I'm aiming for 15 April.....not far away.

I average 1500 sq ft HWE, 30k sf would take me about 10 hours with 2 vans, 3 guys, one guy for each van and the extra guy is pulling the hoses and give the main guy breaks every hour or so, if I put 4 guys, we dual wand on one of the van, I always put one extra guy just for pulling hoses, it makes things extremely faster.

I agree on the 1500 sq ft HWE per person as the average rate. That is actually how I bid commercial jobs, in fact.

I went down to clean the next building 12k sqft this time around, but the CEO had a bus load of people come out for some kind of meeting in the building. So, rather than waste the trip, I knocked out the entrances for several buildings that were on the list.

I got them done and then was told that they didn't want them done until next Monday so that they would be at their best for some big gathering on Tuesday. Mad
