Government Rip offs
I bid a job for a Federal Office last week that was just a storage room of cgd carpet of about 1100 sqft in size. I really didn't want to do it, since it was a 40 minute drive to get there and would be a small ticket so I bid it at my residential rate plus 20 cents per foot.
I was just notified that I got the job.
Even worse, I was the low bidder....by a lot. I don't get it unless they were used to being ripped off on a monthly basis and I was just a kinder thief. Why pay 58 cents per foot to clean an empty store room...no stains...no gum....no pet urine...no nothing?
Hard to figure out government spending.....I would be happy, but they are probably just going to raise my taxes to pay for it, so I am likely working for free and just don't know it yet.

You forget about the 500 dollar hammers?
You should have bid it at 1.00 a square. You'll likely take forever getting paid......

Don't you hate when that happens ?
You should negotiate the payment terms before you start, and may be add a contract in terms minimum 2 cleanings per year at that rate ? If they just want a one time shot that's an opportunity to add another $ 0.10 - $ 0.20 / sq ft ?
