Fires up North Empty Fires up North

It must really be burning badly in Canada and Minnesota, we have been under constant smoke in Nebraska since 6 am this morning. I thought it was a fog rolling in at first, it was that thick. Strange part is that it smells like burning plastic instead of wood....not sure why that is. scratch

Hope everyone is okay up there....I think I will skip the run tonight as well, it can't be good for the lungs.

Wow must be a big one. Maybe the smell is the retardant there using to put the fire out.

Hopefully we wont have a bad fire season up here with all he moisture were having here. Knock on wood

I didn't think about the retardant....that could very well be.

It just amazes me how a fire in one state can affect so much area. We had a planned burn in Missouri a month ago and the South winds created airborne alerts in my city where asthmatics were told to stay indoors for 2 days.

This smoke cover is far worse than Missouri. Even the local baseball game was almost cancelled due to the smoke levels. The field lights could barely penetrate it.

When mount St. Helen blew it's top when I was a kid, ash was falling from the sky a few days later, in Michigan. I remember it looking like it was snowing, and it was warm and sunny.

I recall that event, but sure don't remember seeing anything in Nebraska....happily.

Now if a gold mine would happen to detonate........ Very Happy
