Looking at a new wand but....
I'm finally getting a new wand, I like a couple and wont have much trouble picking one of the two I like out....my problem is, I am not sure if I want to change over to 2" or stay 1.5" I never was big on 2" hose at the wand but for better quality I could man up I guess....I need to know the change has enough benefit to make. Thoughts?

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
On residential where maneuverability is king, the 2 inch will not be a big benefit. If that is the target jobs, stay with the 1.5 inch.
On commercial, go with the 2 inch all day long.
The compromise is if your 1.5 inch isn't very flexible, then a nice flexible Amflex hose in a 2 inch might be the best of all worlds.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
I do 2" all day long.
2" wand
2" hose
No 1.5" for me. I want all the suction I can get.
I'd like to go to 1.5", without sacrificing airflow.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
I am the same way Matt, but it is subjective according to the blower rating, distances, and wand flow.
I want all the suction I can get, but that is mainly because I am running a 12 flow minimum on my wands and cleaning some pretty soiled carpets.
IF you are cleaning mildly soiled, a 4-6 flow might be all that you need and then that 1.5 hose is good to go.
So many variables....I guess you have to try it yourself to know for certain Devon. That CDS certainly has the power to push a 2 inch without any strain, so it might be worth the test.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
I went with the 2" Prochem Ti six 11002 jets and with extenders and a greenglide.....I can tweak it as I see what it offers. I was so ready for a new wand....the one I got from the manufacturer of my equipment was and is fine but was never really 100% happy with it. I'll keep it around for an as needed tool.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
That is an awesome choice and you will really like the 12 flow with that direct drive machine.....more flow means more heat. Oh, I guess it could be the 12 inch too....either way, great wand.
This might be against many's religion, but I put bypass valves on all my wands. I do so for a few reasons.
1. You can clear out the cold water from your lines in the winter
2. You can keep the water hot and ready to go at the wand while idle
3. It gives you a built-in "dust downer" in your wand
It adds weight, but when you clean in the sub-zero temps, that bypass valve is worth gold. Just something to consider.

Which valve are you using?, i need to add one to my Uph tool. Not enough water flow to kick on the heater all the time.milspec6 wrote:That is an awesome choice and you will really like the 12 flow with that direct drive machine.....more flow means more heat. What do you mean 12 flow? and 12 inch?

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
I missed it the first time and didn't realize it was the 6-jetter. I was handling a 12 inch PC Ti with the Quad jets the other day and was picturing that one.
You have the Cadillac of wands, sir, doesn't get any better.
As for the bypass valve, I'll try and post a photo tonight of what I install....really simple to add.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
stepping up on the wand is going to make a huge difference Devon.
1.5 inch is really more for portables imo, 2inch, 6 jets with high flow is a big upgrade

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
Yeah AC...I had to kind of start back up with that wand and the 1.5....I knew the 2" was a little better but never thought it was that big for the difficulty of the 2" stiffness at the wand.....Im really making some noise around here and want to make sure Im am fine tuned!. I will give some feedback when I get going....Im sure it will be pointless as most seem to be using 2" now.
Im excited about this wand like a kid on Christmas eve....Im tracking it and everything. lol Didnt realize it was the caddy though....just got what I thought was the best choice....heard a little feedback but now days put little faith in what others say.....in here its not much of a problem but Its hard to know the actual agenda of someone giving a rating to a product. Im real curious about the extenders and if that will really help....the guy who sold me was very nice and knowledgeable so I went with his recommendation......he said maybe later I could pimp it out....I asked what else could this thing get?.....boy did he tell me.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
You will love that wand, PC knows what they are doing. The best part will be the one piece head, that thing can fit under everything and is very quiet. I don't know if extenders are necessary or not, but that is a simple trial to find out.
I would love to have that wand, but can only affort the PMF version.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
high flow is a big change especially because so many customers like to use spotters.
10 flow and up is where the really good fast efficient cleaning happens,
you can rinse your pre spray out and some very quickly with that much water flushing.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
I agree AC, especially true on commercial.....12 flow is minimum to me under those conditions. On residential, I like 8-12 flow.
Maybe you will hate that wand Devon......I will be first in line to buy it from you if that happens.....which it will not.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
I have both pmf Mach 15 and prochem ti, I like pmf Mach better honestly.
I also have tested dry times between pmf Mach 12 ( 1.5" tube ) and pmf Mach 15 ( 2" tube ) with 6 flow on both wands, dry times are very close ( the Mach 12 dries about 30 minutes later than the Mach 15 ) so for residential I would still use the 1.5" wands.
I also use 6 flows on really soiled carpets with no problem rinsing, just add more pre sprays on the carpets and raise the pressure on the TM.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
Well that is interesting Dp, I have been torn on adding another PC Quad or the Mach 12 wand for the other truck and now your experience intrigues me.
I have been a PC Quad user for most of my life and love that wand despite the weight. They have a titanium version now, but pricey. I also like the Mach 15 on commercial, but need to go smaller for residential.
Good to hear about that Mach 12 having good performance.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
This is weird....went to the PMF website to see if that Mach 12 still came with a 2 inch tube option like it once did. The website doesn't even show the wand anymore, just the 15 inch.
I wonder if they have discontinued it?
Being a Prochem guy Dp, did you ever use the Quad and how would you compare it to the Mach 12?
I really do like the lip glides on the Mach wands, although they are very expensive. I just wonder how well they recover and fit under objects compared to the Quad?

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
I have used pc quad, performance is very similar with the Mach 12, due to similar performance, I like Mach 12 better because it's a lot lighter and it goes in under furnitures slightly better than the quad.
Call JB and get the Mach 12 from him, good price too.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
Wow, you get under furniture better with the Mach 12 than the Quad? That surprises me, but if true....I am sold.
Re: Looking at a new wand but....
WOW>....it's here! I just finished putting it together and the Greenglide was lose....a note in the box said if the glide is lose to call...I called and they are sending a tighter fitting under sized one ....not sure what that's about. Anyway, this thing is a beast! It's longer! its lighter, more jets, jet extenders.....now I'm ready to do a job in the morning, this thing is low profile for sure...I already slide it under my sofa. I cant believe how light it is...9lbs!

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
Probably will increase your production by 20%....leave it drier as well.
That glide thing is confusing....not sure what that is about either.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
The Greenglide note (inserted) said...Due to extreme variability of the Prochem Titanium casting we found it necessary to create a secondary fitting glide. 90% fit fine but a few neen undersized glides.
Did I tell you this thing is only 9lbs? I cant get over the weight....my other wand was at least 12/13lbs and smaller and lesser of a wand. I will use it first thing this morning and I already know it was a huge improvement for me....I'm trying to get used to the 2 tube and the new length but I'm sure I will adjust quick.
My wife was mad that I brought it to bed with me.

Re: Looking at a new wand but....
Did my first job with it and wow! Im so glad I purchased this wand. First thing I noticed was its much quieter than any wand Ive used in the past......then being 2" now I noticed a stiffer back end of the wand but not so much that it bothered me....then I cleaned as usual and noticed my time was shortened a little bit....because the 6 jets and wider wand I got an increase in production, wich is not a big deal to me as Im not busy enough to worry about speed....I did notice it extracted much more moisture.....so much so that I dont think testing is going to happen....its enough that a change to a 2" is necessary if drying times are of interest to you.....they were dryer with no dry pass than I was doing with the other wand and a dry pass. I never knew and from reading in this forum I have increased my ability to be even better.
