The metal basket that Devon mentioned is what I had been talking about earlier. They are a very fine mesh filter that you find in irrigation systems and my butler has for an inline filter off the pump.

The secret is finding one that comes in the size that we need and with a closed bottom. That is the kind of drop-in filter that I would want as well.

Something like this maybe only on a larger scale.

Heres a mesh one for you. I think its a burlap sack. I dont use it. I haven't tested it but I thought it might impede air flow. Maybe someone with a CFM meter can test it

Yeah I'm sure the burlap mesh would get clogged up too easy.
I would prefer nylon mesh, it's a lot easier to clean.

Burlap....I think that might have been used to carry water to fight a fire. Laughing

Ok Rob so yyou want the basket to have a finer mesh, but you don't mind pulling the basket to clean it out. What if I make a liner out of wire mesh tthat will slide in the other basket

I have a mytee dirt hog filter Newer design. I use cheap knee highs bought at Walmart. Sometimes I go through 2-3 a job. I just through them away. They cost about $.25 each. The ones that Mytee sells clog up too fast, too tight of a weave and too expensive. Love to see this new design.

Too tight of weave is a concern, but there should be a compromise point that works for our needs.

I cleaned my hoses today by sending in wet towels through my vac hoses at full power. A total of 4 were fired through there and none tore the filter liner...they can hold up. I still would like to see an improvement though.

I do soak them Mo with after-shock most of the time. I do it weekly or to just impress the customer's kid or something. It is pretty cool watching a terry towel travel through 300 feet of coiled hose in about a second.

What can I say, I'm still just a big kid myself.

He do you go thru 2-3 a job.?
Aren't the mytee filter just "lady calf length stockings?"
Mytee bag of 25... About 6$.
I do the wash down when needed. To clear up air flow. I can fill those babies up. The other day a pulled out a 5# er+.
Off the record: my wife snagged afew stocking off my supply.

Those came with Joe's clearview filter and were awful at diminishing airflow once they got wet.

Ok guys here's a update.
The first prototype of the universal mount for inline filters is complete and ready for testing in the field. Will be trying to get with Mark in the next day or so to install. He is close by going to let him try for a couple weeks to see if I need to modify the mount then I will make a few more to send out for field testing.
Also been working on a inline filter of my own. Still working on and waiting for some parts and pieces before that is complete.
I am looking at some basket liner options that may work better long term, but I have a ways to go on that. Not sure if it will be cost effective for this but will find out.
I do want to say that I appreciate all the input you guys have given me. There will be pic's coming soon there are have been a few pictures sent via text to some on the board for their thoughts. To those a special thanks. Just want to get things rolling and have the proof I made it first.

I think you are the perfect guy to design the new filter. You have a non-nonsense approach to things and that is exactly what we all look for in things like filters.

Thanks Eddie. I really like the mount. The angled ports out the back are a good idea too. I will use it tonight for the first time.

Looks good Eddie ! 90% of the time I actually don't have leaking issues from my rc 99 because I sealed the bottom lid with high temperature silicone and I let my machine run for a couple of minutes while I'm wrapping my hoses up, also to cool down the unit.
How's the filter coming along ? Very Happy
