CRB for the Win

CRB for the Win
I ended a very long day today with the cleaning of a rental home owned my the most neurotic woman I have ever met. She told me that a pit bull had urinated all over the living room and had her black light to prove it. She had actually purchased the Pro's Choice big blacklight and was marking all the spots with dried crackers.
She was not impressed nor happy when I checked it with my Hydroforce light and disagreed. There were some spots, but it looked more like vomit to me. What she was smelling was just dog. You know, that wet burlap dog smell from the body oils and fur? When I told her that, she nearly kicked me out and called her former carpet cleaner (now retired) to come over and "supervise" my cleaning.
I went to the truck and pulled out my CRB telling her that I will dig up enough fur to probably build a small cat and that it was the remnants of the dog that was causing the smell. By the time her retired cleaner arrived, I had removed a mound of wet, smelly fur the size of a small football from her jade green nylon carpet......she was stunned.
Her retired cleaner thought it was probably urine as well until I explained about the wet fur. He had never seen a CRB and was also shocked by the results. I then cleaned the house using Procyon and OSR to make certain that the smell would be erradicated.....and it did, zero dog smell.
She wants me to go take a look at her apartment complex and a few other rentals in the town over tomorrow, so I guess that I passed the audition.
It was kind of creepy the way that she kept watching me work through the window, but she has been in the rental business for 40 years so she has probably met a few bad cleaners in her day. I didn't take it personal.
Like I say, if you want the smell gone, you have to get rid of the source. There is no way to rid doggy odor if the dog still remains....or at least his stinky fur does. You could use a carpet rake or stiff brush beneath a 175 rpm, but that CRB is gold for getting rid of pet odors.

Re: CRB for the Win
They met a real pro today. Just goes to show that as a cleaner you need to keep with the latest tools to do a good job.
Re: CRB for the Win
Great job, Rob. (I was a poet and didn't know it)
Her old cleaner would probably have sprayed the hell out of it with some odor eliminator.

He did, she told me it always smelled like lavender when he cleaned.
Re: CRB for the Win
Thinking about trading in my 360 for the program strong dry has.
If you trade in any decent working rotovac, other brand crb, or similar they will give you a brand new in the box strong dry for 1195.00
thats a pretty good price for a brand new unit, I asked rotovac how much I would get trading my 360 in towards a 360XL and they were thinking only around $500.
I still like my 360 but the XL is so much better, and at this point I would much rather have CRB on both trucks

Re: CRB for the Win
Sell the 360 to Mo and buy a CRB. Probably come out about the same and Mo gets an upgrade as well.
I have the Strong Dry and beat the hell out of it with no failures. I use it to prescrub carpet, stairs, and tile. No real complaints except that the renovator trays are not necessary, so if you can save a buck by buying without them, do so. I am not even sure where my trays are any more.
