Swivel head wands any good?
I know that this subject has come up before. A video of a new Tony Dang swivel wand ended up in my email inbox. Looked nice, improved needle bearings at the swivel. Anybody using this new and improved version?
Re: Swivel head wands any good?
I'm not using them but I have tried them in the past, as a matter of fact, that video you see might've been my video that I made ( Tony requested me to make it )
During a very short time I used the wand, it is convenient for residential with some or lots of furnitures and cleaning around them is sooo easy, I would say you can save a couple of minutes for each room on average, that will save you about 10 - 20 minutes from each job, if all your jobs are residential and all of them just ask you to clean around furnitures, you can definitely squeeze one more job in your day and still get done at the same time.
Now in terms of quality, I can't give too much reviews because I only use it in a short amount of time, I think Tony guarantee the swivel for a couple of years ?
The wand itself is a heavier than my pmf titanium, it's about the same weight as my prochem titanium that's been sitting pretty on my over head rack in the garage.
I think he's making them in different color now, blue and red are optional colors which is cool but I think after a couple of weeks, they will get scratched up with use, it is powder coated I think ?
Price point is a little on the high side imho, but it's got titanium tube, and the head has window.

Re: Swivel head wands any good?
As Dp noted, any swivel wand can speed things up when cleaning around furniture as well as squeezing into a narrow closet. The quality looks pretty good these days, so it really comes down to cost vs value.
Most of my residential include moving the furniture, so it doesn't offer much to me over a fixed wand. If your situation is different, then it would be worth giving it a try if you already needed a new wand.
At the price, I wouldn't buy it unless you needed a new wand. If that was the case, then it might be a good solution.

Re: Swivel head wands any good?
I would lean more towards the hydro force swivel wand.
I dont like the small locking allen nut you have to take in and out to lock the swivel, too easy to lose and also you have to have an allen wrench with you.
the hydro force is just a hand tighten to swivel or not swivel
also I saw a few of the other swivel wands that had some jobs put on them and man they looked beat to death, I know some dont take care of their tools but it was all rusted around the swivel.. which made me hold off on ordering one

Re: Swivel head wands any good?
Rust showing would be a big turn-off for me as well. Like you said, many don't care for their tools, but it shouldn't rust like that either. I still have wands that are 20 years old that have never seen rust, these swivels are not that old.
Re: Swivel head wands any good?
ya ill try and find the video I saw, but man the thing looked beat to death and only a year old
Re: Swivel head wands any good?
The swivel head thing is not a game changer, but is a little more than just a gimmick. If you need a wand that can drive around objects, it fits the bill. If you don't, then it is the wrong tool for you.
