Remember who came up with idea first? You all laughed at me, but I had the future pegged.

I tried this stuff in a sample before the release date, I don't think they have the right solution. The smell reminds me of the old Drakkar cologne we used to wear in high school. I don't think that is the right approach at all.

I think the future remains elsewhere. Maybe a dry vapor or even more likely to be something like concentrated ozone under positive pressure. That way it can penetrate a few millimeters into the materials. I was targeting that approach, before I got side-tracked.

If nothing else, we will see what kind of market exists for it. I suspect it will be a very large one.

With the legalization in many states it may actually become a thing.

My crystal ball said so too, but I wasn't willing to order 500 gallons of it when I looked for chemical producer to make me a batch. I think that will become its own industry like smoke removal was a decade ago.

I still think they have the wrong approach, but it will be profitable nonetheless.

Ha..ha...
How many states legalized it already ? Washington, Colorado and California are the only ones I know of. I know the numbers will keep growing, and there will be a few more companies putting out their own lines and try to get a piece of the pie from this industry.
It is a complicated thing though, not only odor sticks to carpets, they stick to the walls and such too. How do you guys charge to fog a room ? Is it daily or per job ? How do you guarantee the odor elimination ?

Fogging for Marijuana will not work. At least I don't believe that it would, I have no testing lab to find out. Unlike tobacco, marijuana tends to be more oily and far stronger so I don't think standard tricks apply.

When I fog, it is by volume of room being fogged. As for guarantee for odor elimination? There isn't one. I usually call in the neighbor for the final sniff test. The customer has almost always agreed with their neighbor's call. Especially one like this.....

I think there are 20 something states that in one form or another, have legalized pot. I can see this growing, even from a landlord perspective.

Though I can see that to do the job right, it would be more like a mold remediation job. You can't just suck the carpets and think you have the smell issue licked. Washing walls and decontamination of the HVAC system would be necessary.

You guys think there are more pot smokers than weed smokers?

I think landlords will just rent it as a marijuana smoking apartment an not do jack to get it re rented

I wasn't even considering landlords for this market.....I am thinking Hotels. Think about how much money there was in smoke abatement about 15 years ago in those places. It will be the same thing, only you can't just run an ozone machine in there and cash out this time.

Last I knew, pot and weed were the same thing.....

It might be possible a slum lord would rent a pot house to another pot head. But most would NOT want that smell remaining. Sooner or later, they will want to cash out and sell their rentals. The residual pot stench would drive the price down dramatically. That is, IF they could even sell it.

That is the number one rule in selling a property....it can't have a negative o odor. Structural stuff is easy to fix and doesn't scare people, but a bad odor will send them right out the door.

The guy that establishes himself as the guru of pot odor removal now will reap major rewards when the market booms.....if it booms. It can be a risky move, but someone will make it.

In my personal opinion, the only way someone will make it big in odor remediation for this service, will be with homes for sale. Good landlords will have a clause in the rental agreement to cover the costs, should someone try to destroy a rental home with the odor.
So in order to make it big, you will need to live in a state that it is legal, and there will have to be a good market for home sales.

Slumlords won't spend the money to get it fixed right.

I meant cigarette vs pot smokers.

They guy that sold me his upholstery tool said he used to do smoke jobs for hotels. He said it was easy, He just set up his fogger closed the door and came back in 24 hours and collected check

Is it that easy?

It can be that easy Mo, but your friend was doing it incorrectly.

What I have done for years is set up an ozone generator capable of reaching shock levels, crack a window open, and let it run for one hour. Then open windows to vent room followed by additional shock treatments until the odor is gone.

The key is that you must have oxygen for the machine to create ozone, so there has to be some air movement into the space. Running an ozone generator without incoming oxygen not only isn't effective (ozone displaces the oxygen and once oxygen is gone...no more conversion) it can damage materials as it becomes caustic (think smog). Running a unit for 24 hours like that was a BIG mistake.

If you want an inexpensive quality unit, buy from "Max Blaster". I've been using them for years and never had a complaint.
