Finally, some good news
The neighboring cities that I cover took 2 really hard hits over the last 4 years when the local private college shut down and then the Nuclear Power Plant shut down last year. The results were severe both in loss of jobs and business.
Today, it was announced that the private college campus was purchased by a University that plans on being open for business by 2018. That campus is pretty big and holds 7 classroom buildings (multiple stories), 5 Dormitories (8 stories each), and several large homes for the senior staff of the former college. All of them have been closed up for several years.
A campus like this can keep a cleaner pretty busy and I am the only local cleaner with a strong resume of large commercial. This will be a contract that I will be targeting VERY aggressively. It could also provide me an option to go back to school during the winter slow down to advance my degrees. I see a lot of positives with this situation.
The best part would be that it is just 17 miles away from me. Everything else I clean is over 45 miles. This could be my future.

Re: Finally, some good news
46 million dollars being spent on renovations and upgrades!
Somebody will have to keep all that new stuff cleaned.

Yea!
That's BIG news for the area.
When those 2 closed down, there was a trickle down affect.
Now, time for a trickle up:)

It wasn't Trump....it was a very nice guy.
The campus was purchased by a wealthy real estate investor for 3.5 million dollars 2 years ago. He donated it to the school for free. When they asked him how he could do it? He just replied that he could afford it and left it at that.
The town is all buzzing over it as there is more to the story. It will be a school (approx 1,200 students), a nursing care facility, and even a neighboring film company is moving operations to the campus grounds. Lots of interesting things happening.
Before the power plant shut down, a couple of franchise hotels were in the process of building in town (Hilton and Holiday Inn Express) as well as the supporting restaurants that go with it. They stopped the project as soon as the plant made their announcement, so this area has lost out on a lot of development.
Hopefully, this will kick start some things.
