Bathrooms vs Bedrooms
I have another lakeside home to clean in the morning and I just looked at the Zillow listing (loves that site for intel) and it just baffles me how homes built in the last 15 years all have so many bathrooms.
Older homes around here (pre-'85) all have 1.5-2 bathrooms and normally 3-4 bedrooms. All the newer homes have crazy numbers of bathrooms like the one I will be cleaning.....6 Bedrooms with 5 Bathrooms. Why? Why do people want so many bathrooms?
It really seems to me like homes today are built more like condos or hotels where each member of the family can stay in isolation. In my days, the family actually interacted in the home....I guess I am just too old to understand this trend. I am also seeing the need to pitch tile cleaning more than ever since there are just as many bathrooms as bedrooms.
Is it the same across the US or is it just my area?

Re: Bathrooms vs Bedrooms
I clean many lake homes with many bathrooms. Most of them have a toilet, sink and shower stall for each guest bedroom.
I find it no less crazy then the MANY homes I clean that have 2 kitchens, dining rooms, and great/living rooms.
It's nuts, IMO. But it also explains to me why these same people hire us to clean their homes. Who would want to clean all that every week?!

Re: Bathrooms vs Bedrooms
That is a very good point. When I visit my wealthy Brother's place, all I could see was a lot of pita upkeep. He brags about his sandy lakeside beach and then tells me how he has to rake it a couple of times per week....screw that.
In this case, I was cleaning it when an elderly couple came up behind me and started walking through the house since the front door was ajar with my hoses. The house is listed for sale and they decided to check it out unannounced.....left foot prints throughout every room before I stopped them.
People really are ignorant.

Re: Bathrooms vs Bedrooms
Everyone gets their own bathroom. Prevents a lot of announcements like, "I wouldn't go in their for 20 minutes".
Someone walks in while I'm cleaning; if they don't belong, I tell them to get out. Period! If its a rental and they just want to look around, don't care, get out. Someone wants me to,give them an estimate, get out. They have NO business coming in, uninvited, without permission.

Re: Bathrooms vs Bedrooms
I agree Matt, I thought they were related to the owner by the way they were so comfortable walking around the place. The owner was home, just not on the floor I was working on at the time.
Turned out that the couple was scheduled to view the home at 4 pm (owners waited to the last second to clean), but it was only 10:30 am....a little early there chief.

Re: Bathrooms vs Bedrooms
Around here we have retired people buying 4 thousand square foot homes just in case the grand kids come to visit

I'd have been hot as a firecracker if they would have done that to me Bob.
I would have asked for their name and address to send the bill to, for the reclean.
You're right, some people are stupid.

Re: Bathrooms vs Bedrooms
I wouldn't have said anything if someone uninvited walked all over my wet clean carpet, especially not warning them about the floor adjacent to the carpet being slippery
