how do you do this
so my everest was making a ticking sound when i start it up. it went away when rev'd up. so i got poking around yesterday playing detective/mechanic(haha). I found that 1 of the belts from engine to the blower was really!! cracked. about every inch and half. the other best it just fine, its a ribbed one. so with the way the pulleys are: how can i replace that belt without taking off the other.??

You don't if 1 belt is bad you replace both. Not only is it easier to do both while you are at it, but the old belt is stretched out so either you over tighten the new belt, or you under tighten the old belt.

Re: how do you do this
Wish they used a belt tension pulley.
So 3 years ago, the 1 belt(only had 1 on) broke on a job with 1 room to go. It was really cracked!!!! So I put a ribbed belt on there(just 1). I bought 2 backup ribbed belt. Several month later I went to Donjon for some work in TM., the tech threw on a belt because it had just 1. But not one of mine. Their belt from stock. AND guess which belt wore out? Yep....

Re: how do you do this
If I were you, I would cut the belt that's cracked, if you don't, and that's snapped, it might snapped towards the other belt and snap the other one too.
I've ran one belt for a day or two before and it was fine, just don't run at highest speed.
Get Bando belts, I swear by them, I haven't replaced mine for 3 years and they still look like new. I have a spare set I can send you if you can't find any locally or they don't have any in stock, let me know.

Re: how do you do this
Belts should last you many years in my experience, so if they don't diagnose the issue (heat, alignment, etc.) My Butler belts haven't been changed in 5 years and show no wear.
Re: how do you do this
I cut the cracked one off. I have 2 spares.

Re: how do you do this
its a good idea to keep a link belt on hand for on the job repairs.
kind of like using a spare tire but they work really well and will last months... but usually you just need to finish the jobs and get thru the end of the day

Re: how do you do this
Are they ( link belts ) reusable ? What I meant is if you use them to get through the day and then replace it with the original, can you reuse them or you have to throw them out ?

Link belts are re usable. They adjust to fit, piece by piece OR link by link. If a link is worn, replace it.? Had one on my first TM.

Re: how do you do this
You guys every use panty hose for replacements to finish a belt? I heard you can use them in a pinch for your vehicle. Not that I wear pant hose
Re: how do you do this
I had to do that once to get a '77 Ford Maverick home from the movies. It worked, but it was only a short drive.
Just don't ask where I got the panty hose that night.
