Mechanically humbled
I was standing in my truck changing the oil in my TNT, CAT, and Blower while the snow fell outside and I was immediately struck dumb when I reached the blower.
This was the first oil change (finally reached 100 hours) on this unit and the first time I had dealt with with a vertical mounted blower. I was looking at it and seeing all the different machined plugs and had to scratch my head for awhile. Then I opened what I thought was the drain plugs only to discover that it was actually the over-flow plugs.
Once I did drain the unit, I had to decide if I needed to open up both ends and if I had to do the same thing to both ends or if they shared the same the oil?
For a guy that has repaired some very complex things in my life, I had to chuckle about how dumb I felt for that 20 minutes.

Re: Mechanically humbled
Don't we all have those moments ? Even on much more simpler things, last week I had a big commercial job that needs to be done with a portable and as I was cleaning before the waste tank got full, Mike told me that he can empty the waste tank into a bucket that we brought originally for refilling the clean water, I was like, wow that's brilliant Mike, we don't have to keep dragging the machine to the bathroom to drain, we ended up getting done with the job in less than 3 hours. Yes I felt a little dumb because that could've saved us so many hours in the past.
Oh well, better late than never.

Re: Mechanically humbled
It is funny how the brain can do calculus, but simple things can be more elusive.
