Floor cleaning Equipment

Floor cleaning Equipment
I just recieved a call from a former customer who owns a pawn shop in the area. An area floor service business went under after sufferring through a bad year and he has all the equipment in his shop's back room. I am going down to take a look at it all tomorrow to see what is there. I still can't cover April's bills yet myself, so I will not likely be buying anything, but I thought some of you might be interested. The shop is going to rely on me to price the equipment and there might be some bargains there to be had as the business was rather busy over the last 5 years doing mainly hard floors.
I have been cleaning parts of the buildings while that business was doing the hard flooring and they seemed to have a lot of equipment. A couple of heated walk behinds, lots of rotary machines, etc. I wish I was in a better position to take advantage of it and expand, but I have a sword hanging over my business right now.
Anyone looking for anything? I can post pictures tomorrow afternoon if there is any interest.

Re: Floor cleaning Equipment
They might have a Hos Mo, or the knock off of one. I know they ran a lot of Karcher products and they do have a Hos-type machine called the "BDS 43/Duo" and "Classic".
Will find out anyway. Who knows, he might be getting all my equipment if things don't pick up. Today is barely above freezing and has been raining hard since midnight. Phones don't ring when it still feels like winter. I need some Sun and warmth to get things going.

Lots of heated portables, walk-behind extractors, cheap wands, and rotary floor machines....nothing to be excited about. The only thing that I had any interest in was the spinner, but it was just an SX-12, so even that wasn't great.
There was a whole lot of money spent on that equipment and it is sad to see a business die like that, but it was a competitor, so maybe that helps me or maybe it just confims my future? Bargains to be had for someone who specialized in hard floor maintenence, but that isn't me...takes too much manpower.

Re: Floor cleaning Equipment
Hard floors here pay nothing. So even if a guy here got in on that low priced equipment, he will still struggle to get any business.

That was my experience as well, just no money in it unless you were able to land contracts with a college or hospital. Everything else was worthless.

Still haven't replaced that Orbot yet? There is supposed to be a few more items being delivered, but I don't expect to see one. There were a few 175's that I might look over yet, but I am not really motivated to buy any.

Rick just had Cimex's on sale. I'm sure other stuff in his store was too, but he was pushing the Cimex.

Not by much at all. The last large one that I did was a pharmacy chain about 7 years ago. It took 2 nights and 5 workers to get it done. After wages and supplies, there was the cost of the plumber as the wax plugged up the drain. I cleared more money delivering pizza on a weekend when it was all done. I never bid one again.

Re: Floor cleaning Equipment
I was called today that the rest of the equipment was at the shop. There was quite a bit more gear including a Recoil Extractor, a Sandia Portable extractor, a Gekko want with 2 heads, and a few other portable machines including one hard floor walk-behind that was rechargeable.
The shop owner knew nothing about cleaning equipment and asked if I thought $1500 was a fair price for everything. If this wasn't such a disappointing 2 months, I would have pounced on it and done a cart-wheel, but I can't do it. I don't really like portables, but the recoil is a good unit and the Sandia clamshell looked almost new. There was also some large walk behind that had a 220v plug and a heat exhaust pipe. I haven't looked up the thing yet, but it weighed a ton and can't be cheap....especially in this industry.
I did identify what most of the equipment was so the price for everything will probably increase now, but he really doesn't it due to limited space, so $2000 would surely take everything. Great value for someone that uses portables or does hard floor work.

Re: Floor cleaning Equipment
HOLY CRAP!! That 220v machine is a heated psi washer! Has a 2000 psi rating, but not sure on the heat level. I would bet that wasn't cheap and looks to be in good shape although the psi hose and wand was missing.
I might have to go back and try to work something out.

Re: Floor cleaning Equipment
I didn't...too many bills and not the kind with Presidents on them. Somebody will get quite a steal if they are busy enough.
