Tile and grout help Empty Tile and grout help

Post by kevinj6121 Thu May 07, 2015 9:41 am

So i am wanting to add tile and grout to my carpet cleaning, don't have much to invest into new equipment, i have a mytee M5 500psi extractor, rotovac 360I with carpet brush head and the tile and grout head which i've not used yet. also have a 175 rotary and a 15inch CRB with carpet brushes and the stiffer brushes for tile. have not used the tile brushes yet because mainly only use the CRB on carpet, don't want to spend 500.00 or more on a spinner type tool cause my extractor does not have the psi to run one anyway. Guess I would not be relying on high pressure to clean but rather machine scrubbing with either 175, CRB or rotovac tile and grout head. and i was thinking on getting one of those 4 JET SQUEEZE TILE TOOL or 4 JET BRUSH TILE TOOLs from caltoolusa for 185.00 to rinse and extract/suck everything up. What is everyones thoughts on this. I think I may be able to get by like this for awhile and be a little selective on the jobs i take on till i can spend some more on a higher psi machine and a spinner type tool.

should be fine if you do heavier scrubbing, you dont really need super high pressure with the right chems and a good scrub.

sometimes the higher pressure will help but for the most part you should be fine

Heck yeaah that will work keven. The tile is easy to clean iys the grout that can be tough. Get a shark grout brush spray just the grout lines to keep the splashing to a minimum you can use a dry pad to pick up the solution and a glided wand to rinse and finish it up with another dry pad

Right on, it doesn't require a spinner nor high pressure...I run my spinners at 600 psi.

The key is the recovery and frankly, many of the spinners suck at that anyway. I didn't like the glided wand method and I do use the PMF Hard Surface wand a lot, but find it is best on concrete surfaces. Get yourself a gecko-type tool for recovery and rinsing, they work pretty well.

Shark brush for the grout lines and gecko-type tool and you will be golden behind that scrubbing.

Invest $125 in a good nylogrit brush for your 175. I gave up on the spinner and manual brush, and rotovac a long time ago. Now I use the lowspeed (175) with a nylobrush, Procyon grout cleaner and cotton mop. Mix the procyon acoordin to directions, spray on, and let it dwell for 10 min. Get the nylobrush on your 175 into the grout lines in small sections (4x4 or 6x6) then mop with clean water using a cotton mop. If the floor needs it go over it a second time. The results are great especially the next day when the grout has completely dried. This process has been easier, faster, and produces better results than I ever got with the other systems. And no manual scrubbing Very Happy .

I heard this "nylogrit brush" mentioned before, maybe it's time I looked into what it is.

Does low speed buffer usually smaller in diameter ? Is Orbot a low speed buffer ? I've always used high speed buffer.

Orbot is a low speed and is really effective on tile with their tile brush and added weight.

The major slow down for me was having to use the manual brush to scrub the grout.

Well I haven't bought anything yet but am leaning towards that cal tools hard surface wand and i would use it on my portable 500psi M5 to just rinse and suck, the actual cleaning would be done with either my 175 or CRB can also use the tile head i have for my rotovac 360i but i wouldn't use that suction ring because I've tried it and its not to good. I think the hard surface wand would work better. and be faster, at least in residential small area's. I am also looking at maybe getting that oreck LB9000 (lowboy) orbital for mainly VLM but looks like milspec6 mentioned a tile brush for orbital machines, does such a thing exist for the lowboy orbital.
