Who runs solo?
I have a kid I may use to help me while my son is in school but was curious, who runs solo doing jobs?...I can do it without any issue but more interested in no freaking out the home owner.

Re: Who runs solo?
I do almost always, as must as I'm embarrassed to admit it............I could really use help most days. It's just not as easy as it once was as I get older.
But I do have a couple friends in this biz, that can and will help me out when needed, if they're available. Funny thing is, it was easier to get friends help long ago than it is now, but we all get busy with work and family.
Maybe one day I'll find that good helper before I'm done.

That is great!........wish I could say the same, but for now I'm responsible for supporting 2 households, it seems.

A helper is great, especially when you are worn out and need to load up the van....I would never work without one on jobs exceeding 5 hours.
You guys with young kids are very lucky as are those kids to have Fathers that are self-employed and able to spend time with them.
I have a brown cactus that is slowly dying in the bathroom.....just not the same.

I do an it sucks. This week I woke up with a sour neck so bad that I could barely turn my neck. The neck is better but my shoulder hurts too which makes it hard to sleep cause I sleep on my side.
A sole OP are one bad injury away from scrambling to find some to swing the wand or iot having any income until you recover

Re: Who runs solo?
I've become a bit of an expert on necks, get a gel/foam contoured pillow. They are heavy and a little expensive, but really helps at night.
The other one is buy a soft collar at Walgreens and wear it at home to rest your neck when it hurts. It will allow the muscles to relax and stop spasms.
Outside of that, look up throught the day. Tilting your head back takes preesure of the nerves and keeps the muscles from tensing up wanding. It is amazing how much a cleaner will only focus on looking at the floor all day....take a look at the ceiling at times.

Re: Who runs solo?
Yeah Rob I think It is a pinched nerve cause the pain has been radiating to the arm
Re: Who runs solo?
If it radiates....definitely a pinched nerve.
As long as you can tilt your head back and go chin to chest....no worries, but try that collar and pillow and you will thank me later.

Re: Who runs solo?
I used to run solo, hardly do anymore unless if we're extremely busy, since I'm so used to work with a tech, it really sucks when I have to run solo, just the fact that someone is pulling my hoses back is a huge help and huge time saver, not to mention I'm able to pull the hoses and answer the calls while my tech talk to customer and give them cleaning estimate.

I doubt you will have any problems at all...might find that you are just as fast despite some efficiency losses. It is just the load out that will suck.
You could find a temporary helper couldn't you? Neighbor's good or something. I have my mechanic's son, my barber's son, and an employee at the bank that are always asking for some work. Even if their only job is to load / unload, that would be well worth the expense.
Re: Who runs solo?
Yeah, my son’s friends already told me if I need their help, they are available, and they have helped me in the past with big commercial work, but I’m not sure yet, I guess will have to see the volume of work coming in too.
They are happy with $ 12 / hour, so cost is not an issue but my biggest need would be for apartments where I have to drop hoses down from the balcony, they don’t know how to operate the equipment yet, so that’s a challenge.

Re: Who runs solo?
Apartments can be a pain in that regards. I hated doing apartments solo if they were beyond 2 floors. Even the 2nd floor can suck if there is parking below those balconies.
A helper would be a valuable asset.
