My Orbot shaft broke

My Orbot shaft broke
The machine had been sounding funny even after replacing bearing and pad driver. The shaft broke on a job last week. I opened it up to see if I could just replace the shaft but decided on just getting a new motor to the tune of almost 500.00 I guess this would be a good time to paint the machine
Re: My Orbot shaft broke
It would have been a good time to buy that rotary extractor. I like my Orbot and still break it out for tile and hard floor cleanings, but I don't use it for anything else now. If the carpet needs a stronger scrubbing than the CRB can deliver, the HOSS Extractor comes off the truck instead.
I still wonder if all your bearing issues are because of the drag when used on carpet. Mine has been cleaning tile and rubber floors for the last 6 years and has never broke down....even when running for hours at a time.

Re: My Orbot shaft broke
Yeah on tile and grout the machine is just floating and not exerting much pressure. I think the entire design is flawed.
Still haven't ordered the motor yet. I was going to see If I could source the motor throuh a baldor distributor

Re: My Orbot shaft broke
I used to have a spare motor, but sold it a year ago. Found it on ebay for about 1/3 of the retail price and it was brand new in box.
The design is sort of flawed as the motor isn't that strong, but it was designed around mainly pads on commercial carpet and not bonnets or residential. Add the weights and you are really putting a strain on that motor and bearing.
I have no plans to get rid of mine, but I don't use it all that much any more since adding the CRB and Rotary Extractors.
I'll watch for a motor for you.

Thanks man. Haven't thought about eBay. I just want to make sure it's the right one
Re: My Orbot shaft broke
I just left a farming chain store called "Bomgaars" here and saw that they had several motors that looked like good candidates....some on sale for only $200.
I forget the brand, but they were US built and listed as "Agricultural Duty" what-ever that means. They carried everything from 1/2 hp to 3 hp, but I wasn't sure of the shaft size nor mounting patterns or else I would have sourced it better.
If you have pulled your motor, get me some specs and I can price it tomorrow if interested.

Re: My Orbot shaft broke
Two hundred sounds better than 500. Its a 4 hole bolt pattern with a threaded shaft the counterweight screws on that Il get the details for you tommorow
Re: My Orbot shaft broke
Same specs as that $200 model that I saw on sale. Just don't know about the shaft.
