Received Redemption today
Remember that basement flood that I worked on where the water kept coming in for days and I was convinced that the city water main was causing it? The city sent people out only to say that I didn't know what I was talking about, so the owner installed a sump pump.
That pump never stopped pumping 24/7 since. She has lost all faith in her basement staying dry that she refused to rebuild the space and put the place up for sale.
I received a call on Tuesday by a prospective buyer and wanted to know the details about the flooding. I told them that the city water line is obviously cracked and feeding water into the basement and regardless of what the city is saying, I stand by that assessment.
I just received the following text:
The city water department had to replace the water main between the two houses today after a sink hole opened up, right where you found that depression.
They are planning on suing the city for damages and costs to rebuild that basement. Probably the best news that I have heard in weeks. It didn't pay any bills, but it feels good to see the city admit that I was right the whole time.

Lol. Know it all's don't know as much as they think they do, huh?
Too bad you couldn't find a way to grind their noses in it.
Glad they FINALLY got the issue FIXED. About damn time.

Re: Received Redemption today
I am driving down there tomorrow in hopes to see them still cleaning up the install. I just want to get some pictures and gloat.
Re: Received Redemption today
Maybe they can make it a class action suit that includes defamation of character to your company?
Re: Received Redemption today
I am just hoping to get a call to clean out the mold from behind the drywall which I am sure is there. The lady didn't have any money and couldn't afford to tear out the drywall, but I think the city owes her now.
Re: Received Redemption today
Damn ! If that happens down here in CA, she would've been a millionaire, she would've gotten dozens of attorney's solicitation letters, lol.

Re: Received Redemption today
I am still prodding her to sue for everything including the loss of property resale value as been previously flooded, full restoration, and soil recovery as well. Then there would be the inconvenience and stress factors to incorporate and punitive damages for the attempts by the city to deny this problem.
I think she is only seeking restoration of the basement.

Re: Received Redemption today
Probably all she would end up with anyway. They have the money of all the town folk to use to hire lawyers. And who does the judge work with anyway, but those same people she would be suing.
Unfortunately, that's how it seems to work in small towns.

Re: Received Redemption today
