Sounds like we need to record everyone's prediction to see who wins for the best guess.

Well I was pleased to see pressure come up on the solution system today. No leaks so far, looks like the two lines I replaced when I started on it. Time will tell. Held 500 psi . Still a little something wrong, the temp gauge is not reading but the water is hot. Maybe the temp sender is bad. It will read but if it gets to 140 deg then it's cavitating at the wand it's too hot. So I think it's just a sensor that's bad. But test it with my infrared temp gauge and I can easily get 220 degrees out the front of the machine. At one point it showed 260° which naturally is steam coming out to Wand.
My customer was desperate so he took it to get some jobs done. He has been out of work for a month. So I told him to keep the temp adjustment low then work it up a little bit at a time. But I also told him if he blows a line from heat don't call me this weekend.

I feel bad for the guy having to count on this machine to earn a living when it clearly has more repairs yet to work out the flaws. I am not sure it would be worth it if something bad happens...fire, scalding, etc. I guess we all do foolish things when desperate.

So far so good. Customer just finished his first full day of cleaning today. There are a few small issues, but nothing major.

Lol, well at least enough to finish paying the repair bill. I know that he will otherwise he wouldn't have left the shop with it. He's a good customer. He's always telling other people about me, and showing his sales rep at SB the work that is possible at Ace Services, and impossible for them at SB. His words not mine. I'm just glad that he is pleased.

He seems to be forgetting one very important detail, at dealer, they most likely will order a HX box from prochem that cost $ 2 grand instead of making one for a couple hundred bucks like Ed did.
It would've easily cost him a couple thousand dollars more than what Ed charge.

Oh, as rough as that machine looked, I would still get that over anything else new or almost new, but then again, I'm a sucker for prochem everest, what do I know ? Razz

So very true...heat exchangers are never cheap from the dealer. I still remember replacing my Butler unit years ago and it hurt.

At the 9k this guy paid for that unit, it sounds like he ended up doing well despite the fraudualnt actions of the seller. That in itself can be a rare event these days.

All the Hx's and hx box quoted price from a distributor. 6k plus shipping and handling, and taxes. No labor included.

Matt, there is John's hx that can make one but not sure of the quality, if it's the box only, any welder can make one as long as you give them the dimension, better than paying a couple thousand dollars for the box from Prochem.

If you look at the picture, they are just basic heat exchangers like a transmission cooler only stacked. Most radiator shops can build / rebuild them and then a good welder can make the housing. My HX was over $1500 back then for a very basic design. I could of had it rebuilt local for around $400 if I knew better at the time.
