Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
Good input, thanks. That little wet dry thing looks good. Wonder if I can find an attachment for the one I have now. That would cut 35 minutes off these jobs and I could do the whole strip area with out breaking it into sections. Thanks again.

Oh btw. The rate on the stripper is 15 oz/gal. I used the high rate on my first job for good measure.

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
Probably could Ryan.
I would think it would be cheaper to buy a unit off ebay that has a bad motor and Frankenstein it.
New parts from a disty could be expensive.

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
some one the new ones ive been playing with are low foam. Havent had to add defoamer to my clarke or a/s
Apparently dustbane just reformulated its champion stripper.
Friends said its the most powerful one they have used yet. NO THICK stripper slop either it breaks it down that well... so I need to try it for my self.
I cant stand old tech products.
Doubtful Ryan.
but you could check cleanfreak.com
they Have some nice ones such as this for example

Is ot better to mop on the stripper or spray with pump up? Does it make a difference?

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
You can do it either way Ryan.
I myself, use a pump up. But what wax I do, isn't large either.

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
Ok, how long do you let it sit before you start scrub? I'm a little impatient, would it strip better if I waited about 15 minutes before I grab the scrubber

Yes, I give it 15 minutes or so before hitting it with the 175 and pad.

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
I'm sure there is some difference, but don't know If it is enough to matter.
I use either Zep brand stuff or First Strike brand. Both give me good results.

Well, I don't like the local o/o. The guy I buy my pre spray from clear across the country treats so well, it's hard to match. Any ways, they buy their stripper from Sam's Club and resell it higher price so kinda doesn't make since to support them.

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
Think it's ANY different for me Joe? I have no local disty. Unless you call a big box store a disty.
I have tried BETCO stuff, which can be found locally, but it was no better than the stuff at the box stores. It's almost 3X the price too. This, from the same place that rents Rug Docs. Sure looks like THEY support me, huh?

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
in some cases it will matter the quality of stripper, but only on finish that is a bitch to get off regardless, then it takes what i call a super stripper....has a high concentration of the components chemically, that tear into the bond....and you pay for it to....BUT they usually have a different dilution rate then your simple 4-1 mixes...usually its like half or better...
anyway mop on, with spray 2 things will or can happen....1 possibility of over spray on things....2 it will pit the finish where it 1st makes contact, rather then allow a full coverage....remember that once it breaks down the finish, the stripper will loose potency...so to mop it on (dont wring the mop) is better.....
and depending on the stripper 5-15, i am usually in the middle...watch some of the finishes will begin to orange peel, then you know its working good....others, just stay wet looking, and dont show till you work them....while others, when you step or push the mop or doodle bug, you can see it peel off....

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
Yeah, that's been my experience also. One thing I do is go by feel from the doodle big and floor machine. I can feel the pad grab when there is still some wax on the floor, when it's off the pad slides real easy.

Re: My first VCT strip/wax job
Got a strip and rewax this weekend on my little private bar room account. It's been a year now since I took on the account. Convinced him it's time to redo. It needs it.
