I am going to get a new edge tool for carpeting
I already have one of the stand up crevice style edgers but would like something that has a wider cleaning path.
Real Cleaners store has a PMF and a Vinus tool http://www.realcleaners.com/pmf_vinus_edge_tool.html
I am thinking the PMF because it covers 4 inches to the Vinus' one inch.
Anybody using these tools?
How do you like them?

I have the Vinus edger, but not the PMF tool.
As for the vinus, you can get incredibly close to the edge with it and your wand should be getting within that inch anyway, so I don't think you need a wider path on a edging tool.
The only downside to that vinus seems to be that you can only draw with it and not push. It just digs in going forward, so scrubbing is difficult if you need it. Of course, most of the time, the edges don't require scrubbing anyway...mostly dust instead of soil.
If you plan on using it for stairs, go with the PMF. If you are planning on just getting those edges along the baseboards, that Vinus will work for you.

Re: I am going to get a new edge tool for carpeting
Here in the Northeast filtration (1-4 inches of soiling at the edge) is very prevalent, especially the last 1/2 inch up to the molding. I use a hand crevice tool that sprays and sucks (PMF). Would love to be able to clean this problem area standing up. How close to the edge does the Vinus tool get? Does it clean right up to the molding? And do it well? It's a challenge even with the hand tool, usually have to spray, brush and extract- PIA.

Just watch out for MDf baseboards. If it's MDf we
Don't touch the filtration lines, Some types of
MDf will swell with the smallest amount of water

Re: I am going to get a new edge tool for carpeting
That is a lot of filtration at 4 inches wide. If that is case, than the pmf wonder tool might make more sense and be more efficient than the vinus.
As for getting close, that vinus will get within 1/8 of inch against the molding give or take.

Joe- by finicky do yu mean it plugs up easily?
if so a strainer should help prevent that fom occuring
I am leaning towards the PMF so far.

Glad to see you wanting a edge tool, many cleaners don't bother and leave that nice line of dust along the walls...hate seeing that, even on crappy store entries it gets used.

Attention to detail. That after all is what sets a real cleaner apart.
I already have a stand up crevice style edger that has open spray, picked it up for like 50 bucks brand new on E-bay about 5 or 6 years ago . I just would like something with a wider path.
sometimes I think that just by seeing me carry my edger into the job the client is more assured that I do a good job. Whether or not I actually use it, they see it and feel better.
Re: I am going to get a new edge tool for carpeting
I'm sure they do, they normally ask me about that tool. I then ask them why the last cleaner didn't use one? Normally gets a little smile.
Re: I am going to get a new edge tool for carpeting
I have a 4" one with a glide on it....makes it nice for some tile transitions as well...because you can straddle the edge, then dry stroke to clean it up....
and on some corners, you just lift it and spray the corner down then suck it up...
and MOST baseboards are MDF......just so you know

Yep, beware of those MDF baseboards.
