Back to busting it
My son went back to school this week
So im back back to solo. It sucksss. He's been working with me for a few years in the summer and weekends when needed. We are a well oiled machine anticipating each other moves to get the job done. Now it's just me sniff sniff

Re: Back to busting it
Keep him working Mo, I worked my way through the University cleaning carpets on the weekends and evenings. Makes for a good fall-back plan if the degree doesn't pan out.
Imagine my shock when they handed me my diploma only to find out that a degree in English and Film with a minor in Geology, didn't equate to a corner office somewhere....who knew??

That's funny Rob reminds me of an experience I had with a customer. He was a retired geologist and he used his rare gems and rocks as door stops
Joe remember that video I took of him setting up the truck where he moved in slow motion That boy made me proud this summer he learned a trade and saved enough money to buy his own car.
He wants to be Chef. He's a cook at The Red Lobster just started there this summer. He hates carpet cleaning. He told me what he hated the most was setting up and breaking down the machine I love that part of it

Re: Back to busting it
I find it interesting how many kids today want to be Chefs. My nephew wanted to be the same thing, but then he joined the Army to be a cook. Unless something has changed, a military cook is a LONG way from being a Chef.
Did he watch the cooking shows growing up....maybe a Chef Ramsey fan?

So many friends of mine from high school did the college thing and ended up with communications degrees or other degrees similar.
Theres a reason why they call it college inc. these days. Its so much different that when you guys were growing up years back. In the 60s-70s if you went to college and got really any of those degrees you would for sure be in a good spot able to buy a nice house and live well.
Its just not the same anymore, these kids are getting in huge amounts of debt and many end up with starbucks jobs... and just not that many employers looking for someone with a communications degree.
So many things are different now with all the technology. trade schools and real hands on learning is starting to take over.
you can go directly to video game development schools now without any 4 year college and end up making much more money.
I was pursuing a business degree for a while until I realize the school I was attending and the level of education would not put me in a position to make much more than 300 bucks a day. One day I realized I can do that without school pretty easily and work on my own terms.
I think a chef is a great way to go if you love cooking
