Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........
For those of you who drive a van with a LG heater in it, you probably know what I'm talking about.......
All the Rattling and squeaking they do when you're driving....Unless you're driving on roads that are as smooth as glass, it gets pretty annoying sometimes.
The only thing I've come up with is putting hose clamps around the spots where the coil sticks out of the sheet metal housing. By bowing in the sheet metal while tightening down the clamps, it helps hold the coil tighter, and does help a little, but it's still pretty noisy.
Have you come up with anything better, that really helps?

Re: Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........
There is always something rattling in my van, one more item wouldn't be a problem. That is one of the reasons why I am going away from vans and want a cargo area separate from the cab.
I know this didn't help any, but it doesn't look like there is much you can do with the way an LG is designed beyond what you have tried. Maybe someone has a good answer...less noise would sure be appreciated.

A lot of helpful responses so far.
But anyone got anything useful?
Or maybe it's just not possible?...............

Im with milispec. Just one more thing I got rattling around back there. Even if I could fix the noise I wouldn't bother. It would just be replaced by something else.
It's kinda like working at a casino. After a while you just don't hear the background noise.

Re: Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........
That little giant was not designed to be portable. The thin skin it has is a pain in the arse and it's put together with a million a screws. The best thing to do would be to build a new thicker gauge skin that is better secured to the rest of the heater.
Re: Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........
I FINALLY DID IT!!! Totally quieted down the noisy LG heater.
Drove around working all day today, and not a single squeak or rattle from it!
I know some of you said, who cares because so many other things are rattling and making noise in the van it doesn't matter, or something to that effect. lol
But as far as I'm concerned, the squeaks and sheet metal constantly rattling from the LG are by far the most annoying, and the other stuff really isn't nearly as bad, IMO.
I partially discovered the trick by accident last night while fixing another problem with the LG.
If anyone cares to know how to do it and how easy it is, just ask.
I figure there's no sense explaining it, if it really doesn't bother you that much.

Re: Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........
Let me guess you out some insulation between the skin and coil to quite it down?
Re: Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........
Duct tape? Either that or you threw it out of the van.
Re: Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........

Naaaaa, no ear plugs.
Like Mo guessed "insulation", a lot more than what comes in the LG heater from the factory. That in combination with the hose clamps, which I mentioned in my 1st post in this thread.
The real trick is to make all the sheet metal and coil "One" to eliminate vibration and rattling.........it's only taken me 25 years to figure this out!

Re: Little Giant Heater - SHUSHHHH!!!...........
Straps useless when the internals are rattling all around, but it turns out it's a easy fix when you know what to fix.
Let's hear a test with a mic next to your LG while driving!
