New member upswing
Just to let you guys know so far this month we have had 24 people register to the forum quite a jump when you consider that last month we had 14 and the month before 17. What I had been doing is allowing folks that don't register "Guests" access to the viewing of threads but no access to links, pictures, or videos like all the other forums do.
When the shoot hit the fan with that Royal Rumble thread I decided to close the entire forum to guests. It must have freaked them out because quite a few registered and some posted
I have been considering notifying all members that have never posted to let them know that there account will be deleted due to inactivity. Do you guys think that little nudge might spark an interest in posting. You guys probably don't give a crap.

Hey Mo, I would be one of those who just popped in without logging in. And yes I admit I read a lot and if I don't have something that is fresh to say I lay back. I understand the need to post(Fertilize the field) so growth can occur. When I attempted to pop in the other day I realized I had to Log in. No big deal for me but I can see your point clearly. It's been a long summer and I'm glad you are going to keep the forum rolling. So Logging in
is fine and feel free to nudge me if you want. I appreciate the knowledge offered by all!

When I first joined the cafe, took me a few days to actually start posting and took a few weeks to post regularly, some people might be too shy to post, others just look for answers to their truckmount problems or stains that they couldn't get out, if I were one of those groups, a nudge like that wouldn't get me to start posting, but then again, everyone is different.
I don't think it hurts to try, worst case scenario is they just ignored the email and still won't post, I know for sure if you email them and let them know that there will be raffles coming soon but only for members with a minimum of 50 posts or 100 posts can participate, they might start posting

With educators struggling to get 25% participation in class, I don't know if there is anything you can do.

I agree, I don't think most will post even if asked to do so..............most people are takers rather then givers and I doubt you're going to convert them.
But I don't see any harm in giving them a nudge, maybe we'll get lucky and it will work on a couple.

Nudge is good. If they do not make any posts then I think they should be deleted. Otherwise this lounge is a tool and many are benefiting from this and not helping others.
Re: New member upswing
Call it a nudge or call it a reminder...it is appropriate.
How many of us send out cleaning reminders when a customer disappears? I don't see any difference with the membership. Nudge away.

Need an auto log out, due to no activity. Many times I come on here to find out I've been logged on for 24hr.

Maybe you should give guest access a certain amount of times. After that they get locked out until they join... And keep putting reminders out there for everyone to share
