Reputation points

I've been talking to Gerry Miller the last couple days about quickbooks, then we talked about reputation points and we're wondering how many members actually know / don't know about them, so I'm just going to explain it a little how it works, if you created a thread and someone responded and answered your question, there's a "thanks" button on their response that you can click, that will give that member 2 or 3 reputation points, if you're just reading a thread and see someone's response that you like, on the right side of their response there's a plus and minus sign, if you click on the plus, that gives that member 1 reputation point, I hope this helps new members and old members that don't know how it works.

I just gave DP a reputation point for that post. If you give a negative reputation point tell us why and it can't be beause you didn't get some last night

Personally, I think the reputation points are kind are misleading to a certain extent and here is why I think so. I read some comments and they seem to have little value or help but people tend to give a positive mark and it just looks like it done to boost their reputation, so I tend to overlook this when considering advise from someone.Example: Mike W doesn't post here a lot and doesn't have a high rep. but in my opinion he is one sharp cookie and when he posts I tend to listen and gleam a little from what he has to say or share.

Maybe we should just get rid of it. When I first put in on there I had a feeling it would be abused. I haven't noticed people do that but I do recall the Terry and Dave battle when all kinds of negatives were flying around.

I just think it is abused

im guilty of never using them, just didnt really notice

I agree that somewhat it's been abused but nonetheless I think it's helpful since the forum don't have "like" or "dislike" button, plus after 10,000 reputation points, Mo said that it can be redeemed towards new TNT, you'd still have to pay taxes and fees on that though, I think he said it's around $ 20,000 shipped out the door ?
