Butler silencers
Anyone know of a good deal on one or ever replaced with an alternative?
Mine is pretty darn rusty and she is getting louder than normal, pretty sure it needs to go, but I think they run over $1200 for a replacement. I'm not certain what the design looks like inside the box, but I'm pretty sure some restriction is built in to hold better vacuum and some heat.
The best part of a butler is they are pretty quiet with the insulated walls and doors kept shut, but mine is losing that quality pretty fast. It is a '99 model after-all, it is certainly due to fail.

Re: Butler silencers
Scratch that...it has failed.
Crawled down there and started probing around, put a screwdriver right through the box. It is all rotted out.
I really don't see how this thing could be so expensive. As I look inside, all I see is a box with a resonator and a shielded section where the blower ties in. I believe that is where the restrictor is located. Really doesn't look much different than any muffler I have opened up except this one is larger and has less baffles.
Interesting.......might be a simple option out there. After-all, my Judson is just using a simple turbo muffler. There might be something out there that I can graft as a replacement without touching that restrictor.

Re: Butler silencers
Seems like a good price for a Universal but then I noticed it's only a 2".
I'd think that's too small, especially for the Butler?
I have one, works well, and it's a 2.5", and it's just a small 36 Roots.

Re: Butler silencers
Good tips gang...since the clutch froze and broke the shaft last night, the silencer is a little less important now.
Not sure if it is worth rebuilding at this point...might pull the unit and throw in a small slider using the butler reel and tanks. Just not sure right now...will know more when I hear from butler about costs involved with parts.

Re: Butler silencers
Nice find GTECH I need to buy the 2.5 inch version. Is one side threaded? I can't tell on the pic. The two items that I would replace on the TNT is the muffler and cheap dump valve.
