What is proper attire to you
When you clean what is your view of proper attire? For workers in homes or businesses?
Jeans and a printed t shirt?.... Shorts? .....Flip flops?.....tank tops?.....work uniform?

Night Commercial: Jeans and polo or printed tee for helpers
Residential: Collared embroidered shirts and pants (like proppers)
Day Commercial: Just like Residential
I don't really like shorts on the job-site and always insist on gloves, but if it is really hot / humid I will bend the rule on some jobs.

Re: What is proper attire to you
I wear Embroidered shirts, and shorts from February to November, then I break out the long pants. I don't think you need to go out cleaning in dress slacks and a tie but you need to be clean and presentable. You have to think of the type of client you are trying to work for. If you show up to the door with flip flops and a wife beater or your favorite heavy metal or rap concert t-shirt you are not going to see a lot of high end customers. But that is how I look at when a service person comes to my house.

I were polo shirts and shorts with about 8 different pockets they come in handy.
Tim I do like the material of that shirt seems to be more comfortable in the hot weather.

Embroidered polo shirts or short sleeve dress shirts and any pants or shorts, none of my techs like shorts, so they wear either jeans or tactical pants.
I like almost any laced shoes except micro fiber or breathable fabric cause they get wet and that will ruin my day, I absolutely hate wet socks.
I personally think top uniform is a must, the rest is not going to be noticed that much as long as it's clean and presentable.
The most important though is a smile, remember most of the time you're dealing with the lady of the house, they have to feel comfortable with you being in their home and their bedrooms, a smile goes a long way in making them feeling at ease.

I always wear khaki pants with an embroidered golf style polo. It looks classy and customers know your not just the greasy dude with an old truck mount. My IICRC instructor told us to wear ties but that's a little much for me. Of course it could just depend on your area. I live near D.C so I get a lot of wealthy clients.

Residential: Cargo shorts and a knit shirt with a collar, plus sandals.
Commercial: Same except lace up shoes. I tried jeans, but even in the winter they're too hot.

Years ago there was a guy who always wore white coveralls. He charged premium prices because he advertised white glove treatment.

Re: What is proper attire to you
Always wore embroidered polo shirts, leather shoes, and khaki or maybe jeans on commercial work.
Lately, it has changed to long sleeve yet lightweight embroidered safari shirts and coyote tactical pants with leather shoes. I look like Jim Hannah out there, but it is very comfortable, breathable, and doesn't restrict movements at all.
I should start wearing a Grim Reaper costume for the wealthy homes to see if they would even notice. They just just nod and dismiss you as soon as you get in the door at times.
