You know the ones. Thin woven rugs with a polypropylene/olefin/wool face. You just sneeze at them and the edges ripple. Do you walk away? steam them with low pressure? Encap them? I hate to walk away from them, always hate cleaning them though. Sometimes no problem, other times they ripple like crazy.

Like Devon said qualify and go to town. If there is no urine issues I would VLM . dry flat with blower. If it curls after drying I would probably suggest she lay the rug flat upside down for a while to see if that helps with the ripples.

If you take it home to clean block it to dry.

I clean them all the time, and don't worry about it, because they're usually curled up way before they see me coming.

They're crap poly rugs, so the customers don't seem to care.

Don't get what you don't pay for. Smile

My biggest gripe is how hard it is to vac hair off of them, same with poly carpet. Arrow

Even with me having the ability to clean them I just buy new cheap rugs. I find it hard to find someone to pay me to clean a $10 rug for $12....lol

There are some folks that have inexpensive rugs that have an extrinsic value to the customer. The rugs coordinate well with their decor or its has sentimental value.

Just be a straight shooter, explain what will likely happen up front and do your best to control it when you clean.

If it curls, no problem as you did your best and everyone knew it would probably happen anyway. Collect your money and move on to the next problem.

I remember being up in Minnesota and meeting a great cleaner who gave me some great advice. I was talking about this one carpet that I just couldn't get clean and all he said was "You don't get to be the hero every time."

That stuck with me ever since....you do your best, can't always win.
