Just need to vent
I have been excitedly waiting for a special vintage guitar amp to arrive from California. It was shipping FedEx and for some reason the tracking never advanced beyond Colorado....about 5.5 hours away and yet no arrival for 2 days.
I left the house for exactly one hour yesterday to get a part and came back to find a undelivered tag on my front door.
Okay, a little annoyed, but timing is what it is. So, today, I cleared my schedule so that I could be home all day so that I didn't miss delivery again. This amp is very expensive and full of vintage tubes, so I really don't want the thing getting tossed around any more than it has to.
Well, I have been working in my office which sits right above my front door. The window is open and curtains drawn so that I will not miss anything. My lights are on and I am not playing any music. Then I decided that I have to go outside and do some mowing and guess what......another freaking label saying that nobody was home.
What ever happened to ringing a door bell (checked it, it works) or knocking on the door? It was pretty obvious that someone was home. My neighbors even told the driver that I was probably home. All the guy did was leave the sticker which was already filled out at the truck.
So, now I have to wait until Monday and go pick the thing up myself 45 minutes away since I can't sit around waiting for the ninja delivery driver. God knows what condition it will be in and I really didn't have the time allotted since I re-scheduled tasks so that I would get it today.
I used to like FedEx, but I am not accepting this one quietly....I will be speaking to someone in a very stern manner come Monday.

Re: Just need to vent
Call FedEx have the driver meet you. Dispatch can have him call you. I've done it before.

That sucks Rob. I would have gave them the authorization to leve the package with out a sig after the first attempt and posted it on yout door.
Call them right now they can also leave the package for you at your nearest fedex authorized ship center instead of going all the way to the terminal
They have one in Freemont
1800 gofedex

Mo is THE FEDEX Man, and knows "Wilson" personally, right Mo?
I hope none of those tubes end up coming broken. I know they can be hard to find.

Re: Just need to vent
That is what they ended up doing, left it with the authorized center that I requested, but still can't get it until Monday.
I love the center that I requested, I send my guitars to that place. The Manager is a guitarist and the Assistant Manger has relatives who were prominent performers in the 40's in vaudeville (sword swallower for one).
I'm just a little irritated that I wasted half my day waiting for this delivery only to be passed over by a ninja driver.
It is the tubes and the rare speaker that worries me as the speaker hasn't been in production since about 1979. As long as it was packed correctly things should be okay, but with every movement there is an increase in risk of an "oops" moment.
Oh well, just a small thing....I will live.

Those ground guys are strong. I have one lug a 45 blower up my stairs at the other house and those things are heavy. It sucked cuz I jade to carry it down the stairs
Re: Just need to vent
My older brother works for UPS seasonally and he is a giant. I think that guy could flipped the truck over if he wanted to.
I don't mean to be so harsh on the delivery guys, but service has changed from about 15 years ago. My former delivery guys knew my running route and pretty much my work schedule. If I wasn't home, they would drive by my running route for the signature...that was awesome service.
Now it is just a game of tag or else they leave the box in the bushes. I guess it is just the joys of living in the smaller towns.

Re: Just need to vent
My guys is a little too comfortable the last time he opened the side door of my garage to put it inside. I felt a little violated
Re: Just need to vent
I've had the happen as well....even found the box in the back seat of my car once on a rainy day. I guess he thought he was helping, but it didn't sit right to me either.
