I better never retire Empty I better never retire

Post by milspec6 Mon Nov 09, 2015 2:19 pm

As you already know, I have been taking a lot of vacation lately. I have only worked 4 days in the last month at the plant and thanks to the deer, I really haven't been cleaning much either.

What I discovered is that when I don't have a full schedule, I become a whole different animal. I stay up until 4 am and sleep until 10 am. I have time for hobbies and home repair and I started spending fortunes on both.....restoring one vintage telecaster and building another one for example while replacing the gutters on the house.

To add to this condition, when I return to work on Friday, I am scheduled to return to vacation the following week. I keep this up and my house will become a showroom for vintage guitars and my bank account will be in shambles. Laughing

It's funny how you spend your whole adult life wishing you had more time to yourself and then when you finally get that wish, it turns into a bit of a curse. Now I know what I will be like if I was ever to retire and clearly, I can't afford to ever let that happen.

I'm hoping for some increase in cleaning soon to off-set my efforts at becoming the Fender museum of the Midwest. So, if you haven't thought about your retirement, take a few weeks off and see what you discover. affraid

Retire? What's that. When people ask me when I plan on retiring I tell them I enjoy eating too much to give up working.

Honestly...the biggest reward is making a customer happy. I still get amazed at how clean carpets can get with a truckmount and some good steam....today's solutions and some of that stuff they call experience.

I just got home from my first day back on the cleaning trail since the wreck....12k square feet in 8 hours solo. I was moving far more efficiently than ever, but my legs are killing me now...just not in playing shape yet.

The van held up well and the butler did a fine job, so I guess all worked out well in the end.

The place was filthy and stunk badly like a bunch of pig farmers had been walking through the place. When I was done, the Security staff was amazed at the difference and asked for me to clean their office.

It was good to be needed again, I will never retire. Very Happy
