Green Gobbler
I am always on the lookout for a new product that can be beneficial and today I came across a drain opener called "Green Gobbler". Now this stuff is for opening up slow plumbing in a environmentally green formula.
According to the package, it will work on grease, hair, hard water deposits, paper, soap, organic matter, etc. without any harsh chemicals. A plumber that I met at the Home Depot was raving about, so I decided to give it a try.
I poured a packet into the drain of a mop sink in my basement which has slowed to the point of being unusable. I had already planned on cleaning out the trap this weekend, so I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a try. The sink is where I dump all my used pre-sprays, encaps, wallpaper paste, etc. as well as the occasional shave.
I have to say.....WOW, this stuff works. Thirty minutes later, I flushed with hot water and the drain flows rapidly again.
I will have to experiment with this stuff to see if there is a cross-over application for our industry. Maybe in the waste tank...cleaning out sprayers....spot treatments on heavy grease.....sewage over-flow.....all kinds of potential.

I would assume it's just an enzyme, right?

Re: Green Gobbler
Stuff is great....used it on the bathtub, kitchen sink, and downstairs toilet with great results.
I haven't been able to get the MSDS yet, but it must be enzymes. All I know is that I never got that kind of result using Liquid Plumber foams or enzymes for slow drains in the past.
This stuff really works.
