Is it really cheaper ?

Is it really cheaper ?
To work without a helper / tech ?
Due to winter slow down, I've been working solo some days early in the week, last Monday I did a 3rd story apt and not only it's a pain in the butt, but I also managed to get a parking ticket while I was cleaning, I'm a huge believer of having a tech or a helper in the truck because in my experience it's saving me a lot down the road, not only in fuel ( much shorter TM run time ), TM and van maintenance, wear and tear as well as break down can be minimized ( can get in carpool during traffic ), also can eliminate parking tickets ( if someone is standing by the truck, they legally can't give us parking ticket because it's not unattended ).
The hardest part is when we only have 2 jobs, they only work 3 hours and they would have to spend 1/4 of it in gas, winter sucks !

Re: Is it really cheaper ?
it saves lots of money, saves lots of time, saves lots of headaches, saves lots of would be sore muscles
looks more professional showing up with 2 guys when your writing up big tickets
allows you to answer phone and schedule more where otherwise during busy season you might need a phone person
you can gross much more each day than the cost of paying a wander $100-$150 to ride with you
just pay them a set rate for showing up in the winter, they wont mind still making a decent amount for a short 3-4hr day

Re: Is it really cheaper ?
Agree all the way. I use a helper on many jobs that I used to clean solo. They don't have to do a whole lot and make really good money.
Most of the time I didn't need the helper, but when I ran into a situation where I did, it was so nice having that option. I would prefer to run with helpers on all jobs, but don't the work load for that right now.
