Re: How low can you go ?
This is the way I see it, everyone shop around, if I can save my self some time avoiding all the unnecessary steps and just do what they need, I'll be happy to save them $$, plus they're asians, asians shop around a LOT, so instead of not making $ 256 CASH in an hour and a half, I did the work and $ 256 richer at the end of the day, plus I know if I charge them more than that, they will buckle and I wouldn't hire me to do the work.
I know each of you have different standard and won't cut corners, but I like corner cutting as long as it doesn't affect the quality of my work.
Put it this way, if you need brake job and your rotors don't need replacement, why change them ? Or you need freon added for your A/C, why change the compressor ?
I appreciate all the responses :-)

2012 BlueBook pricing is $5.04-$7.67 for 3' wide full wrap step, that's per step. And $1-2 more per foot of step width.Freemind1 wrote:$6.50 a step is pretty good coin.
I normally charge $4.50-$7 per step depending on quantity and soiling.

Re: How low can you go ?
Wow, that's helpful, I gotta increase my step price, I charge $ 3.50 / step up to 3' width in decent condition, if it's soiled or got pet stains they can be as high as $ 7.50 / step, I guess the max is right around the blue book price.Davey Cracker wrote:2012 BlueBook pricing is $5.04-$7.67 for 3' wide full wrap step, that's per step. Where did you get the blue book pricing for cleaning Dave ? Can you share the link ?

I've been referring to the BB for 20+ years. I always get the Pocket Edition.

Re: How low can you go ?
I would not go low for any asian, indian or any foriegners.. They are the cheapest folk around. They value YOU the contractor much like they value used toilet paper. Once they wipe you on their b-hind, they throw you away.
Ive dealt with enough of them to come to this truthful conclusion..
The last indian I cleaned for was indeed the last one. Unless they are willing to pay full price, I is not cleaning for them PERIOD.
My advice to you, stick with full price, you are valuable, your health is valuable and your family deserves more.

So at what price you're willing to do that job for Raffy ? No pre vacuum, pre treat of any kind necessary, one steam pass and one dry pass is all it takes to get the job done and it came out nice, also what state do you live in ?Raffy wrote:I would not go low for any asian, indian or any foriegners.. Re: How low can you go ?
I think the most important factor in how low would you do is weather you will still maintain your profit margins doing the job.
I price jobs the same irregardless as to how soiled the carpet is. Some times that works out great other time it bites me in the ass but it all evens out in the end.
