What is the best solution hose out there right now? I need to replace my winter hoses which often get weak after several months of near freezing and I don't see the "skinny" house for sale any more.

I purchased some Raptor hose with a vinyl type outer shell that my local claimed was the best thing going right now. The psi and heat rating was excellent and the outer cover sure made it slick and non-grippy like most hoses.....to bad it also tangles up if you blink your eyes. Really didn't like that covering at all.

I do prefer the steel braided lines....no plastic hose for me. I say that as I like to be able to use field crimps if needed since I mostly work nights a long way from my shop.

For me, I like schieffer hose, no black death, and they are very durable, for CA weather though, not sure of the durability down in your neck of woods.
They are kind of grippy in the first couple of weeks, but then it's pretty slick.
If your only concern about using plastic hose is not being able to use field crimp, why not just put 1 - 2 extra sets in the van / truck ?
I personally despise plastic hoses because they tangled up easily.

Did that dealer we met in Vegas ever set up the warehouse with Schieffer in CA? Who is still carrying it, since I don't see it on Joe's site any longer.

I have about 400 feet of the Schieffer now, but I always change them out when Spring comes due to winter deterioration.

Rob, I never followed up but they said to contact dultmeier and give them the number off of the skinny and dultmeier will ask schieffer to produce the hose, it sounds easy but we have to give it a shot to know for sure they would do it or not.

I know Dultmeier sells a ton of the generic blue hose, so it would surprise me if they wanted to introduce another hose to compete with.

I guess I could ask....they are only an hour away from me.

Schieffer was right next to Dultmeier in Vegas and I was surprised of how easy both reps made it sound, I showed the hose ( skinny ) as well as the number on the hose, they ( Schieffer ) couldn't find it in their catalog but they told Dultmeier rep to take my order in and to contact them ( schieffer ) with the order, I should've just do it right then so that we make sure that can be done, but I didn't want to just order 100 feet, I wanted to wait until I need at least 200 feet.
If you go to Dultmeier and they said no, at least you can show this response and see what they have to say about it, please let me know if you're able to place the order as I want to order some as well, thanks Rob.

We might have to do a group purchase to get them motivated.

I really like the hose, all the benefits of the old Neptune without the weight nor "black death"....at least I have never run into it with that hose. It might be worth it to buy a crap-load of it and go into the middle-man business.

Still parker paraflex powerclean here, the newer version.      Ive tried about 7 or 8 different types/brands and nothing I like more than this stuff.

It has memory but only on the first set up of the first job and I dont even notice it anymore..  its pretty minimal.

wont burn area rugs or wool even at full temp on the larger LG we have.     I like it because 160ft in my hand is almost no weight maybe 5lbs?        also isnt hot to the touch when your moving it around the house,

sheiffer skinny is really hot u almost need gloves,   personally I dont want all that heat escaping from my line.           When I switched back to paraflex I noticed a huge jump in heat ATW,   but this probably was in part due to fresh clean lines with no build up

I have always thought about trying the parflex again, but my first experience was terrible. Granted, I purchased 200 feet of it and used it for the first time ever in December....it was hopeless and I ended up looking like Kong and the snake.

The skinny does get hot, that is a negative for me as well, but I have not noticed any real drop in temp ATW over the old Goodyear Neptune.

I don't know if I can really adjust to the parflex except as a lead hose. I need a good rubber coated hose off the reel to the house for durability and easy set-up. Once inside, I can see the parflex having some pluses....I might try that and see.
