$ 8 / room motel cleaning
I cleaned this guy's home a few days ago and his name is Patel, no joke, his total was $ 260+ for 3 bedrooms and a living room, he bargained like crazy, I stick to my gun, he agreed, as we were cleaning the last room ( living room ) he told me that he owns a motel in Los angeles, he also told me that he has a carpet cleaner that cleans his motel rooms for $ 8 / room, I was like whaaa, why didn't you call him for your house ? He shrugged his shoulder, he knows the quality of the $ 8 / room guy, that got me thinking, how sad that his customers are getting $ 8 / room quality cleaning and he himself opt to get premium cleaning, that's why I don't stay in motels anymore.

Patel is a very popular name in India and theu are big the hotel biz in the US. He pays the other cleaner 8.00 per room so he can afford to have you clean his carpets
A while back I had a guy try and offer me 8.00 per room, "You see all these rooms her you can clean now"

Re: $ 8 / room motel cleaning
The cleaner getting $8 is likely his cousin or nephew. No business can operate at $8 per hotel room and survive.
Around here, the hotel cleaners are the same ones doing the apartments in the area. They are famous for cleaning a 2 bedroom apartment in 12 minutes. No kidding, there are several who are so proud of it that they advertise the speed.
So tell me, what kind of cleaning do you get in 12 minutes?
These places are the reasons that the industry has such difficulty in being taken seriously. Would you view a 12 minute cleaning as a professional service?

Re: $ 8 / room motel cleaning
its not even cleaning , just wetting the carpet with deodorizer.
theres no extraction happening at that speed

Re: $ 8 / room motel cleaning
thing is those places sometimes have black carpet or really dark so they have no idea if its clean or not
can only judge by smell

Re: $ 8 / room motel cleaning
He is bargaining too low. If I were you I would tell him this "Why don't you do a research". #peace

You guys are right ! Joel, the thing is he knows exactly what he gets for $ 8 / room and $ 0.40 / sq ft I was charging him for his home, he just doesn't care for his customers health and that kinda bothers me, but then again who am I to judge, he's trying to run a business and although I will not stoop down to his level in running my business, I'm not in a position to advice him anything cause at the end of the day he just cares about price, which is sad.

What is even sadder is that he is required by the health department to clean those rooms, but he just wants a receipt to say that he did. He doesn't care if it actually got cleaned....could just charge him $8 for a receipt and walk away.

I feel you man. Actually, I had the same situation before. A client who is bargaining too low, he didn't even consider the hard work or even the detergent/cleaning materials that I will buy just to give him a good service. I told him that he can just give the job to others.

Re: $ 8 / room motel cleaning
What I can never figure out is why a hotel would even think about operating like that? When you read reviews on Expedia or Travelocity, the most common complaint is always that the room was unclean or smelled musty.
When I travel, I choose the hotel based mainly on location and cleanliness. I don't care how many channels the tv offers, a pool, free breakfast, or any internet service. I want to know what is available within walking distance from the place and if the room is clean.
I am sure not staying at a hotel that will only spend $8 to clean the carpets.
