So we are 1/3 of the way in building our house. We are moving a lot into storage for now. I was packing up my desk, when I came across an envelope with a check for $150..... 3 years old!!
Doh!!
We have been working at the packing for 3+ weeks. 20 years of stuff takes along time to go through and determine what goes in storage, what gets treashed, yard sell, and what goes with us to our temp housing( we have to get out of the house we in, so it can go on the market to be sold.
I'm having some anxiety issues of the packing; not the moving. My mind goes in over load, stress and I get upset stomach and headaches. I can do hard things but the precess of "how do I pack all this stuff...."

I understand your pain Matt, I will be doing the same thing in the Spring and can't imagine how the hell I am going to get it done. I can't even get my garage organized let alone my house.

I am hoping for a large fire this winter. If I came home and saw my house on fire, I would be dancing in the street.

I have hears that building a house is extremely stressful but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

The good thing about moving is that it forces you to trash or donate stuff. We're hoarders by nature.

I agree, moving can be a liberating event. Not as easy as a good fire, but similar result.

I am actually planning on moving to the country in the Spring. I have a parcel of land picked out and intend to build a fire station-like building. Three garage bays, small shop, and living area above. I realized years ago that a bachelor has no use for a house and mine is full of storage and equipment right now anyway.

Builder I spoke to says that it could be done for around 70K. That is a whole lot cheaper than buying another house.

I never thought about the match/gas to the place.Wink
No one commented on the finding the check. Consoling
Last year a was called to clean a fresh paint spill at a new construction. BIG barn look from out side. Inside, 3 huge bays/very high ceilings. One big enoung for huge RV, another for big boat. Living quarters were upstairs. Yes, the main floor was garage and shop space. Never seen one like that before.

With luck Matt, I will be building that same building. Tall enough to fit the box truck in and modest loft living area upstairs.

just cash it she prob wont even notice.

I did the big move last summer right in the middle of busy season it was so stressful. I had almost 10yrs of crap. Filled a 12ft box truck 3 times with dump runs, by the end I was ready to throw anything away.

at the same time of moving out of the old house I was remodeling the new one, killed my busy season last year.

Oh, I agree on asking for another check. I've done that before as well and the customer wasn't upset about it at all.

The check is 3 years old. It was from a rental I did; for "the guy" who gave me his CC biz.
