How often you change your qd ?
Is it when they start to leak, when they are hard to connect / disconnect or when they start to look fugly ?
I usually don't change them unless if they start to leak or if I'm having a hard time taking them off when I had to cut the hose and re crimped it, just too lazy to struggle too much for a few bucks parts.

All my males are replaced annually and females every 6 months. I despise having a QD set only partially opening or not closing at all when on the job. It takes time to stop and replace them which I have no patience for when cleaning solo.
If I had a helper all the time, I would probably extend those periods and just have him swap them out when they go bad.

I guess for me it's just the inconvenience of changing them that got me not to change them as often.
I do love the feeling of connecting / disconnecting a new set though, easily done with one hand.

From my experience, the male wearing is the first problem. The hard hat area starts to bloom, and won't insert easily.(get you minds out of the gutter).
The other day I had set up everything and the ran the sol hose insde. Was short about 10'. So I quickly pull another 50'er. The QC won't go in. Its about 15° out and hose are laying in the snow. I'm like "oh crap, Sol line don't freeze up on me". It took some hard twisting to get.
Then a few days later I find a bag in the back of the van with 3 new male connects. Put that on my to do list:)
I also have a tube of some type of grease. Every now and then I'll take a qtip and swab the female qc

That is exactly why I change them so much Matt, something simple like a bad QD can make a real mess on you....shut off valves as well.
I set out 350 feet of line a month ago and when I started my pump to keep things from freezing as it was 12 degrees outside, I found out that the shut off had failed and was spraying the beejesus out of the place.
