really bad noise
Started a job. After just 2 min or so, the TM started making a loud Clangy/banging noise. As I run from upstairs , down the stairway, to the tm; my only tought is "the bower"! At full speed I turn it off, can't rpm it down cuz the speed control toggle switch doesn't work(long story on that, probably already told you about it). So I'm thinking, "what the &#"**# could it be". I climb in the back and with low lighting notice the water box lid is missing!? It came loose and fell into the belt and drive shaft. I couldn't see it anywhere, so it must have fallen down farther, out of the way. I go and start up the TM, hope for "no noise" {praying imoji}
Andddddd No noise, whew.
By the way, running out and down the stair is no longer an easy task, with my bad knees and back.
Oh, by the way; I know that I can now get hooka juice/water out of carpet, or what ever the '#&&=% they spilled. I think these college students were booted out cuz they trashed the place. Funny things is, the story from the PM, sounds like a unit I did last fall in a unit next door. Trashed, hooka...kicked out.

Re: really bad noise
Oh crap Im glad everything is OK. So you never found it?
I better screw down my water box lid. I have it open cuz I put the pressure relief hose in there to preheat the water if the relief hose opens up

Re: really bad noise
Wowza !
Matt, I have the speed toggle thingy if you want I'll sell one to you below market price, let me know.
If I were you, I would check the belt, make sure there is no cut from the shredded lid ( I assume it's shredded ? ).
I always have a big flash light for that exact reason, even in the summer, it's always dark in the van under all of the motor, blower, etc.

Re: really bad noise
Sounds like that are always one of my big fears. I had ice chunks hitting my blower a couple of years ago and that sound had me screaming as I ran back to the van.
It also sounds like you need a good light stored in that van. I carry 3 of these and find them tremendously useful and BRIGHT. A charge lasts me weeks and the magnets are strong enough to keep the light stuck to the outside of the van at interstate speeds....trust me on that one.

Re: really bad noise
The belt is fine.
The lid has burn holes from the belt rubbing it.
Its not the toggle switch, its the magnet up in the module on top of the engine. I have a toggle switch cuz JD told me over the phone that's what it might be. $70 something part:(
Took a whole day at JD to fix the rpm issue, $200+. Lasted 2 weeks! ^¢™®¥|¥|√¢^÷©®\
