Did a job this morning, 4 rooms and hall. Look around, give her the invoice, she leaves. Nice home, low end carpet(but not real low). A lot of spots. Hall had heavy traffics wear, mstr bed RM also had traffic wear. I RV'd the *#%$"@ out of it. Almost 2 hrs.
Hour later she text me that it dosnt look good, dirty spots.....
I called her and explain: fiber wear, can't make that better thru cleaning. Talked about using a wand vs. RV.
She mentions going over 1 time...
Keeps mentioning its dirty....
1 room has abunch of dirty spots. She send me a pic. Its the rake marks from the 'W' technique. WTH
She said "I wish you would have told me how it would turn out....
She wanted some money back. Almost 100° out, 2 hrs on job- hell no.!!
I tought you were a professional....
I told her IF I re cleaned it, she wouldn't see much difference.
She went off again(see her comment above).
Finally I said, "hire another CC, if they do a bitter job, I'll refund every cent."
Then she sends me some txt stating my refund offer. As "something in writting" for her to refer to. Geez......
This was a referral from a ggod friend. I sent him a mssg to warn him "he may hear it from the husband, who he works with.
OR, I may get amssg from the husband saying "looks good, ignore her".

I don't offer refunds. Ever.

I'll offer a reclean of any windows within 48 hours, but that is as far as I go.

For such situations, go with no refund policy.

Was she present when you were cleaning at all? Normally, if they see your effort and you came with a good reference, they take your word for it. The trouble normally shows up if they were not present for any of it.

If she was not present at all, I would go back and clean a section in front of her to prove your point. It is just a matter of educating the customer and once they see it first hand, they will understand the situation....and still be your supporter.

Sometimes no matter how much prequalifying you do about fiber damage it just goes in I ear and out the next. Were dealing with people that abuse their carpet and never professionally clean it.

I usually just go back treat the areas of concern and let her know if there is no improvement we will call it permanent damage or stains

My phone conversation with her, she wasn't listening to what I had to say. It got to a point were I couldn't say anything to help her understand.
I was using the word "fiber wear"

Here is one that had me scratching MY head today....

A few weeks ago, I went out doing several estimates. One in particular, wanted certain windows done. Foyer, walk out basement, and upstairs. Said she would get her wine cellar herself.

When I arrived, only a young girl was home, and I think I shocked her showing up, as much as I was shocked.

I could not understand what she was talking about. The house was only two levels. A modular type home with a walk out basement. No foyer, only upper level and walk out basement. SO I counted the glass, and sent her an estimate for the whole shebang. Just under 300 in and out.

Mind you I was using my google maps to guide me, that day, to save mileage and cut time driving around.

I show up to the house this morning and realize this isn't the SAME house I did the estimate on. This house is HUGE compared to what I estimated. Told the husband after greeting him, I somehow had made an estimate on the WRONG house. He smiled and said that's fine, just figure it out with his wife.

NOW the requested windows made sense.... Explained the situation to the wife and rebid what she wanted done. I was a few bucks less than the original quote, but only for the windows she wanted, not the whole thing.

Good gravy, did I look like a blooming idiot on that one.

I could tell these aren't the type of people to keep me coming back regularly, but I did warn her about the hosing down her windows with tap water. She already had hard water stains on her new windows from it. She seemed indifferent when I tried educating her. Someday when she wants those cleaned off though, I'm sure they will be clasping their checkbook, unfortunately.

Don't feel bad, I did a similar thing a few days ago. It was supposed to be a sale listing for a newer agent in the area. He gave me the code for the garage to gain entrance, but it didn't work.

I kept trying a few times and then went to the front door to look for a key box or something. Didn't find one there either. I called the agent back and he told me that the painters might still be inside so try the door bell.

I rang the bell, nobody answered, but I saw someone peaking out the window from the kitchen. I assumed it was the painters and just didn't hear the bell due to headphones or something, so I went to the window and peaked inside....there was a lady making lunch.

Turned out that the actual house was on located on "Avenue" instead of "Street". I think I scared her half to death. Stupid agents.

Lol, I'm sure if you've been doing this long enough, it happened to you one way or the other.
Walking into female restroom is a completely different story though, lol.
I did however saw a female was going into male restroom in Vegas hotel a couple of months ago, despite of some male screaming telling her she went to the wrong one, she managed to find out on her own, yes she was tipsy, lol.

She was probably a working girl. I was approached by one in Vegas. It rook a while to figure it out. I thought i was Mr Studd muffin for a while

Everyone is approached by one in Vegas...hell even at the local casinos across the river in Iowa. The last time I was at the casino in Iowa, there were 2 hookers hanging out in the men's bathroom looking for work.

Situations do certainly happen to everyone at some point.

They don't approach DP when he goes to vegas. There was that time when one approached him offer her services free of charge just she felt sorry for him LOL
