This customer called this morning and said that her $ 14 k wool rug has been ruined by pet stains, she's honest about scrubbing the stains herself and steam it out herself with home steamer, I thought it's multi color rug, I was going to say forget it lady, bring it to a repair shop, but it's one color, looks toast to me anyway, aside from stripping it and re dye it, but I figured you guys might have dealt with this before and have a success story you can share with me ?

Rug pit is the only way that I would do that. Easy to make one and let it soak in something Rug Restorer or maybe a peroxide solution.

The last time I did one, I used a kids pool and ozone water, worked out really well, but drying was another matter.

If there was enough money in it, I would take it on, but pass otherwise.

Not peroxide. To strong could destroy the wool

True, concentration would need to be appropriate.

I should clarify something here, the peroxide element should come from sodium percarbonate and not a liquid hydrogen peroxide. They both give you peroxide, but the liquid has an acidic buffer that can damage wools at too high of a concentration.

There was a government study done back in the late '30's that shows quantitative results of peroxides on wool of up to a 2 volume. Very boring to read, but if you really wanted to know it is out there.

The rug has no value it is a salvage job as long as ahe signs on to that releases you of any liability i would give it a shot.

If.you cant wash pit i would put a water claw underneath it and pour a 50/50,solution of white vinegar and water and rinse it thoroughly somethimes thats all it takes

If that doesnt do it clean it the way you normally do and work on the stain. The two things that have worked for me on tough to remove pee stains on wool as a last resort has been deep green and yes peroxide low concentration and rinsing and repeatingly. Belive it or not big plant will wash pit and add a little chlorine to the pit water on salvage jobs as a last resort

Question?
The discolor in the pic; is that urine or brown out?????
Wouldn't an acid rinse(real good rinsing) also help with discolor?

Guys, sorry I haven't been posting, been a little busy the last few days, to answer Matt's question, it sure looked like browning, I texted a friend the picture and he also said that it looked like it's browning, so I scheduled an appointment for her and told her that I can't guarantee anything, I went there earlier today and rinse it with just water, it lighten up just a bit.
The carpet color is light gray and the stains are kind of brownish yellowish.
I just charge her minimum charge, I should've thought of deep green earlier, now it's too late, I can call her and offer to do more and just not charge her any more $$ and treat this as an experiment for myself, but I just don't want this to bite my behind if something were to happen ( e.g. Color loss ? ).
I also could get stain magic for wool and try that ?

Stain Magic for wool works well, but is pretty pricey for a job that is a freebie. If you just want to experiment, it has value to you, but not much else.

It definitely has value to me ( the experience ), now how do I store the rest of the chemical ( stain magic ) after I'm done using it so that it doesn't turn into water too soon ?

It comes in the same 2-bottle with sprayer attachment so you just twist close the sprayer tip. Mine normally last 6 months that way without a problem.

The one I see in JD website has 3 bottles, any clue why does it come with 3 bottles ? And I don't think they have 3 bottle that goes into 1 spray, do they ? I guess I have to mix them manually ?

Nevermind, the one bottle is the stabilizer to stabilize the dye, I feel dumb, lol.

I have been helping my clients with HomeProSpotter – Pet Plus Spotter, quite effective with such situations.

Bob, I know the ingredients, I just don't know what concentrations are they using, especially stain magic for wool, I would assume they are using very light concentration of peroxide ?
I already bought them from JD but it would be good to know the concentration for future reference.

I think it is at 20%...not volume, but percent. That seems pretty strong to me....likely for the quart size.

To tell the truth, I am not even sure if the product is any different than the regular stain magic except for the addition of the CSS stabilizer.
