Whittaker?

Hi guys - I recently had someone mention the Whittaker System of carpet cleaning. I know nothing about this so thought perhaps some of you have thoughts, pros, cons, experiences?

That is an encap cleaning method using the Whittaker machine. Encap method can be very effective and it can be horrible depending on the cleaner using it.

Sadly, most have gone to that method because they were lazy and think they can earn big money the easy way. They would be hacks and you should avoid them like the plague. To do encap correctly, it takes time and effort.

Is it the right method to choose? Depends on your situation, type of carpet, soil content, etc. Personally, I no longer offer it, but there are many that do.

Pros:

1. Low moisture used so dry times are very fast
2. No hoses to drag around to mark up walls or floors
3. Low noise, so one could keep doing tasks while cleaning
4. Less chance of stains wicking back to the surface

Cons:

1. Can't remove silt/sand without thorough vacuuming
2. No heat re-set of fibers (not applicable to all types)
3. Not as effective at sanitizing as a hot water extraction
4. Doesn't flush out urine deposits from pets
5. Too many cleaning hacks that use it incorrectly

Basically, the Whittaker is a brush machine that applies and scrubs in an encap solution. Once dry, you vacuum to remove the crystallized solution that is supposed to trap the soil while drying.
