The Combo that works
First off Joe, I apologize for taking so long to get on here. It has been busy.
Secondly thank you for recommending dissolve by kleenrite as an additive to soils and oils.
There is nothing that the combo cannot break through. I have done several trashed rentals and left with the carpet looking like new. What an amazing synergy that is created there. I suppose the only drawback is the noticeable increase in foaming. Dissolve is pretty powerful so one must use it sparingly.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: The Combo that works
That is the only product from that line that I have ever liked, but it does work very well and leaves a nice scent compared to comparable products. I have never boosted S/O with it before, but it sounds like it worked well together.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: The Combo that works
I spiked S/O/E with a little LA's Awesome degreaser on carpet that was so bad I wasn't concerned with making it look good. S/O/E was working really good, but I added some LA's Awesome (because I had it on me) cause it couldn't hurt, and it worked great!
Greased Lightning, on the other hand, doesn't do well at all. Waaaay too much foam!
That's the best part of ruined carpet, its free education.

First I have heard of LA's Awesome. Looked it up. It is super cheap. Dollar tree has it for $1 for 32oz. That is $4 a gallon. I guess I have to try this stuff now. Thanks for the idea.

Re: The Combo that works
Welcome, Dan!
I agree,
I've been using KR Dissolve for years, it works great as a booster when you need to get those real greasy/oily soils out that's more than water based presprays alone can touch.
But like Dan said, you do have to be cautious using it, especially when using it straight as a spotter (to remove gum, tar, oil, grease, adhesive, paint.........I could go on and on.... because it will delam the carpet backing, or soften glue down adhesive enough to cause a bump, if you over do it......Which can be easy to do if not careful using it straight on a real stubborn spot where you might tend need to use quite a bit. And for that reason, in that situation, I will opt for Pros Choice Pro-Solve Gel because it's easier being a gel to keep on the surface without penetrating to the backing.
Also, about the "foaming"..................I've never noticed Dissolve by itself to be foamy at all , but I do know S/O to be fairly foamy by itself, are you sure it's not just the S/O foaming, Dan?
Or do you think there's actually added foaming when mixing the two together? I'm not sure I've boosted S/O with Dissolve yet, so I really don't know.

Yea, it's another Dollar Tree Cheap0 brand, they make a whole line of household cleaning products including laundry detergents. I've tried a couple of their products at home for there intended uses and so far been unimpressed.Danb wrote:First I have heard of LA's Awesome. Looked it up. It is super cheap. Be careful using that stuff in a customers home, especially on new generation carpet, because it could be much to high PH among other things.

Re: The Combo that works
LA's Awesome is safe for most carpet. It's even recommended as a spotter at 30:1. I agree on their other products, just a dollar store brand.
I spiked 5 gallons of S/O/E at 6oz per gallon with 2oz per gallon of LA's Awesome. It worked wonders! It's cheap and effective. WallyWorld sells it for $1.47 for a 32oz bottle.
Greased Lighting is not recommended for carpet. I tried it on ruined carpet for giggles.

Grease eraser is a good choice when you would other wise need to add a solvent boost to your pre spray. The stuff takes out grease as well or better then solvent boosters.
Keeps you solvent free and non toxic,

I combine two cups of s/o with a half cup of easyxtract.com into my 7 quart 4 to 1 inline sprayer and that combo has cleaned the rat nastiest stuff I have come across.
