So I had 4 jobs today plus 1 same day service and ran solo, at 10 am after my first job, I was hungry already ( I had breakfast too ), on my way to 2nd job I passed by Taco Bell and decided to stop and got me steak breakfast burrito, it was good but it's still junk food, nonetheless I think junk food is better than no food, what say you ? *imitating O'Reilly* Razz

I support the fasting over the junk food.

The body can handle the fasting better than the junk....you never get food poisoning by not eating. Grab a bottle of OJ instead if that is all the time that you have.

I keep cliff bars in the work truck.       a bottle of water with it and your good for hours of hard work.  

every gas station has them now
Ive tried a lot of protein bars but for some reason the cliffs just give me so much energy

Cliff bars were a long-time daily staple for me during marathon season. They taste better than other bars and remain chewy instead of becoming a brick like many bars.....some even have caffeine.

My problem came when they added inulin to the product in hopes of capitalizing on the more fiber craze while reducing the sugar content. Inulin is often from the Chicory root and it provides both a natural sweetener as well as high fiber.

I say that there is a problem with that change...namely, the bacteria required to digest that fiber creates lots of methane gas and that is trouble for people with compromised digestive systems.

Inulin is also found in that stringy part of a banana and many other fruits and veggies. Some people can't handle the gas generation, so those products become strictly off-limits to them.

If your body can handle the added gas, then Cliffs are the way to go.

huh interesting, Ive never had any gas from them.. but maybe for someone with ibs it could be a problem, although if you have ibs there are many types of food you have to avoid like cheese

Everyone will get that gas, but most people can absorb it without issue. Unfortunately, people with ibs, crohns, colitus, etc. can be miserable after eating them.

Oh, that explains the constant flagilance I've experienced.
Someone offered me a lot of fresh asparagus to day. I turned them down. Don't want to go down that road again.

I bought a box of Fiber One bars years ago for a work snack and they taste terrific, but loaded with inulin. I ate one and went home sick after giving the box to my boss.

My boss at the time ate the whole box over the night shift. We didn't see him back at work for 4 days. Razz

Cliff bars rock! I will usually keep a small ice chest for those marathon days and almost always have an apple or two and maybe an orange...cold water etc. I am guilty of the junk food stop mainly when Im working with my son....im easy to talk into it with him....he is generally pretty healthy though.

On marathons days in the heat of the summer I would get soem serious cramping in my legs, It didnt feel like it was muscle cramping It felt like it was in the bones, Someone suggested bananas and it worked.

Mo, try drinking some tonic water as well....the kind with the quinine in it.

It was used for malaria , but it also is an awesome cure for muscle cramps which was one of the Malaria symptoms. Mix it with some cranberry juice and you will never experience cramps again.

Magnesium also goes a long way to fighting muscle cramps.

I do like anything in the 80's. I just ran my butt off and had to race a few teens who were finishing up with a track meet. It felt great and my body functions so much better with a good sweat......I lost the race badly, but I am almost 3x older than they are. Very Happy

Heck, I even like the music, cars, movies, tv, and the non-surgically enhanced women of the 80's. I guess I need to move someplace where all that exists year round.
