Road trip !
Hey guys, I'm thinking about doing a major road trip by myself in the near future, not sure when but the route that I'm thinking of is pretty much from north California through 80 freeway all the way to Indiana or Ohio and go down from there to highway 40 and back, I'm thinking to stop by and meet some of you guys along the way, I'm not going to stay long though, max overnight, I'm thinking it shouldn't take more than 7 - 8 days if I drive around 10 hours a day ?
Have any of you done cross country road trip like this ? Any advice of any kind ? And don't hesitate to let me know to avoid certain state / area due to my skin color or my name, lol.
I'm still thinking this through, I've been to many states but not much in the mid west ( except transiting at the airports only ).

Re: Road trip !
I'm here in Indiana. I'd be happy to meet you, if you swing through and have time for it.
No worries here. Everyone here is friendly enough. Just watch your speed, as cops in the Midwest are ticket happy.

Re: Road trip !
I used to road tirp like that all the time, but couldn't deal with 10 hour drives each day unless someone else shared the driving and it was in an RV or at least a comfy conversion van.
Many parts of the Midwest have very boring Interstates. All you see are rolling farmlands for the most part, but if you can get off the interstate, you will find a slew of small towns and really interesting slices of Americana.

Re: Road trip !
I drove across country once on interstate 10. It wasn't see the country kind of trip. It was more like lets see how fast we can get to Florida kind of thing. We slept at a rest stop once. We did hang out at River Walk in San Antonio and one night in

Alright James, I'll let you know if and when I go.
I think they will not think twice to give me a speeding ticket as soon as they see my LA address ( most cops know LA drivers are speedy and no manners ).

That's good to know ! May be I'll have to swing a couple of weeks then to explore things.

In the Midwest, some of those small towns are like foreign countries. Between the Indian Reservations, the Amish, and the Amana Colonies, you would never know you were still in the US.
Re: Road trip !
My doors are open if you get this way DP. Route 66 seems to be an interesting trip if you have never been through it.
