CRB down and out Empty CRB down and out

Post by milspec6 Fri Feb 17, 2017 11:34 am

I was loading up for my Bank Manager job this morning and discovered that my crb was dead when I was trying to clean it up.  I pulled the rubber boot back on the wires and found that the metal casing had cut right through one of the wires.  The bad part was that it cut through flush with the housing, so I couldn't solder them together and now I will have to open it up to reach the wiring....not sure how that will happen yet, but I guess I will find out. Mad

That is a big part of my cleaning and being without it for this job pissed me off.  I had to bring the grandi instead.  Luckily, the house didn't need much agitation, they only had concerns over the new puppy and if there might be some urine contamination.  What I lacked in crb, I made up with the fancy UV flashlight....I found 6 spots and was able to settle a marital argument in the process. Razz

The cleaning went smooth and I received 2 great things in the end.  One, he told me how pleased the bank President was with my previous cleaning and wants me to stop by on Monday to discuss a cleaning schedule.  Two, a nice fat $40 tip.

I can live with days like this, but I might change my mind once I tear into the crb.  I get the feeling that I will not be enjoying it much. Mad   I will post pictures of the process so that others can follow if / when it happens to them.

I don't own a CRB so I wouldn't know anything about it, but nice job on settling the marital disagreement, you should try to be a counselor in the winter to help offset the lack of cleaning business Razz

Not a bad idea.....they sure needed it. I could have ordered them to divide the child in half. Razz

I finally had time to open up the CRB with the broken wire issue (notice the green wire is severed).  Interesting design, but it took a few seconds to figure out how to get the shield out of the way.  It was just 6 screws, but then you had to pinch it and twist a little to get it to move out of the way.

Once you get the shield up, this is what you see...at least on the cord side of the machine.

Then, when you remove that blue cover, you end up locating the wire lugs and then to the right of that is the wire block.

The only decision now is do I want to stay with the short power cord or replace it with a 15-20 foot cord?  The short one that is on them is so that you can daisy chain multiple machines together if desired, but I don't see myself ever doing that, so a longer cord would allow me to ditch the extension cord.....I think I like that idea as extension cords are just another pita that I can live without.

Should be a pretty easy task and will update again as I go.
