I'm going to vent, bear with me; I'm sorry but I need to do it.
Question: what would you call a coaching staff of 11-12 year old that have had 3 practices before season started. O(zero) in April. And 3 so far in May. And think this is acceptable? AND one of the coaches is currently a HS coach and former MLB player.

My answer: a fraud.

My 10 year old daughter is a gymnast and she practices 4 days a week at 3.5 hours each practice. In the summer she will at practice 5 days a week 4 hours each practice.

I personally think it's a bit much but she loves it and she's a straight A student so I can't complain that it affects her studies but if that changes I will have a problem with it.

It does sound a little like they may be cheating the kids a little by not getting them ready, but not all volunteers are created equal. MLB player as coach and he seems a little unmotivated.....sounds like the Bad News Bears and they won a championship. rabbit 

If the kids aren't complaining, then it isn't a problem. They will have fun regardless.
