Top of Waste Tank Storage Empty Top of Waste Tank Storage

Post by Davey Cracker Sun Oct 05, 2014 10:54 pm

Reading gtech12v new TM project thread got me thinking..........

He mentioned his new fresh water tank has room to store 3 air movers on it (I still don't know what the point of carrying around an 120 gal/1,000 lbs of water is, as I've never needed my own water always having a bib to connect to, but I guess maybe some people clean places where there's no running water). LOL.......but that's a whole nether topic.

But it got me thinking about utilizing the space on top of my recovery tank.  Although it's probably only a whole 4.5 sq. ft.,  it's precious space in a van already packed with $hit.

So I'm wondering has anyone built a small/low cage type thing on top of their tank to store stuff -aka crap?

In this area, you have to bring your own water. The water is very hard and not everyone has a softener, so you can scale up your machine pretty quick when using the customer's. We also find a lot of bibs that cracked during the winter without the owner's awareness...until you tie into one and it floods their basement. Then they are calling a lawyer before you get out the door.

As for storage on top of the tank...wouldn't that be a little awkward having anything heavy up there at 4-5 feet high? I would rather keep things like blowers on a lower area to avoid strain.

Maybe use a cargo net up there to hold bonnets and pads instead?

I would just use bungees for an easy way to store stuff up there or a net like Mil said. I guess you could weld some angle iron and make a space up there but sounds like a lot of work for a small area.

I also dont carry a water tank, soft water on tap here. I am going to put a small tank in about 40 gallons just for small jobs where you dont want to run a hose to an annoying bib in the backyard.

Sometimes the customers have muddy pathways and only a spigot in the backyard or its a mulch pathway, hate dealing with that to connect water.

I have my tile stuff strapped on top the lid. Since I don't use it as much and it takes a good chunk of linear space.

Of course it's not practical for storing heavy things......I'm thinking more as was mentioned, pads, bonnets, brushes and such.

120 Gallon Fresh Water Tank w/ Turbo Dryer Rack
(TA-120)
This 120 gallon fresh water tank is an optional tank for our Direct
Drive units.  It is manufactured with a turbo dryer rack mounted on
the top that will fit 3 air movers.  It also has bungee hooks welded
onto the sides for securing items while your driving from job to job.
This option provides you with more storage space.
